Harold and Janice (Dandurant) Hawman of St. Joseph celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Nov. 30. They were married on that date in 1958 at Penn Street Community of Christ. They lived in various locations around the country for 32 years. He graduated from St. Joseph Junior College and Northwest Missouri State University. He served in the Army and worked 29 years for the United States Department of Interior with the National Park Service, retiring in 1994. She graduated from Missouri Western State College and Northwest Missouri State University. She worked for the Department of Army and the National Park Service, retiring in 1997. She now is employed part-time with Heartland Regional Medical Center as a chaplain in the radiation oncology department. KING CITY, Mo. - Dale and Melva Deane (Jameson) Wells of King City celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Dec. 5. They were married on that date in 1958 at First Presbyterian Church in King City. They owned and operated an auto repair, filling station, commercial truck line and custom farmed. Later, he continued to farm and now is semi-retired. She worked for the United States Postal Service in King City for 24 years and retired in 1992 after being postmaster for five years. Vance and Mary Leininger of St. Joseph, will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary Thursday, Dec. 25. They were married in Falls City, Neb., and are graduates of the University of Nebraska School of Music. She taught in the public school in Hemingford, Neb. He taught in the Stanton and Shenandoah, Iowa, public schools. He served as a chief petty officer in the Navy in Washington, D.C, and earned a bachelor of law degree at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. In 1948, he joined the law firm of Walter & Albert in Columbus, Neb., where he practiced for 40 years until they retired in St. Joseph. There three sons and four grandsons.

Major James and Ruth Patee of St. Joseph celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary Dec. 20. They were married on that date in 1941 at the Grant City (Mo.) Courthouse. They lived in Isadore, Mo., while he worked for the Ival Shipley farm. Her served in the Army during the war and they lived at duty stations in Hawaii, Germany and many bases in the United States. He also served time in Japan and Korea. Upon retiring, he went into management with Sears and retired after 21 years of service. She is a homemaker.
