Anniversary: Burnett

KINGSTON, Mo. — Kenneth and Elaine Burnett of Kingston will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, in the Hamilton Federated Church fellowship hall.
Friends and relatives are invited. No gifts, please.
They were married Jan. 23, 1958, at First Christian Church in Cameron, Mo.
Hosting the event will be their children and their spouses: Mickie and Rick Cummings of Hamilton, Mo.; Kendra and Jon Tiemann of La Grange, Mo.; and Karen and Jerald Grimes of Osborn, Mo. A daughter, Connie, is deceased.
There are 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Anniversary: Jones

James and Marilyn (Wilson) Jones of St. Joseph will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary Sunday, Jan. 20.
They were married on that date in 1968 at Cathedral of St. Joseph. He retired from Edward Jones in 1990 after 20 years as a financial advisor. She retired from Cathedral of St. Joseph after 14 years as parish secretary.
Their children and their spouses are Brenna and Jay Snow of Richmond, Va., and Lisa and Scott Patterson, Julie and Damon Goforth, James “J.W.” Jones and Carolyn and Michael Bangerter, all of St. Joseph. A daughter, Janeen, is deceased.
There are seven grandchildren.

Anniversary: McAsey

Bob and Jerri McAsey of St. Joseph will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary at a Mass at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
They were married on Jan. 18, 1948. He is a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the Marines. He retired from the Missouri Pacific Railroad as a clerk. She retired from the Producers Livestock Commission as a manager.
Their children and their spouses are Jimmy and Denny McAsey and Shari and Jim Edelman. A daughter, Kathy McAsey, is deceased.
There are four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Anniversary: McLey

GALLATIN, Mo. — Ivan and LaVonna McLey of Gallatin will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Friday, Jan. 18.
They were married on that date in 1958 near Jamesport, Mo,.
They have resided all their married lives in and around Gallatin.
Their children are Terry and Cheryl McLey, Donnie McLey and friend, Belinda, David and Diane McLey and Bill and Laura McLey. There are seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A grandson is deceased

Anniversary: Meinert

Charles and Marilyn (Trimble) Meinert of St. Joseph will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Jan. 19.
They were married on that date in 1958 at Ashland Avenue Church. He is a retired teacher/coach, who spent most of his career at Lafayette High School.
A registered nurse, she retired from nursing education after 40 years that included the Methodist School of Nursing, the University of Nebraska and Southwest Baptist University.
Hosting a family dinner on Jan. 19 will be their children and their spouses, Jodee and Deon Roush, Kit and Bobby Hay and Matt and Stacy Meniert. Also assisting with hosting duties will be five grandchildren.

Anniversary: Thompson

Sam E. and Donna M. (Buckles) Thompson Sr. of St. Joseph celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Dec. 7.
They were married on that date in 1957 in the parsonage of the Church of Nazarene. He retired from the trucking industry. She retired from the Missouri Division of Family Services as a children’s service worker II in Andrew County.
Their children and their spouses are: Sam E. II and Angie Thompson of Gower, Mo.; Kelly and Marsha Thompson of Olathe, Kan.; and Dawn and Kevin Berryman of St. Joseph. There are five grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.

Engagement: Davis and Norris

Andrea Davis and Ryan Norris are engaged to be married.
She is the daughter of Regina and Jack Davis of St. Joseph. He is the son of Sandra and Byron Norris of Salina, Kan.
The future bride is a 1999 graduate of Central High School, a 2003 graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia with a bachelor of science degree in animal science and will graduate this year with a doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from the Kansas City University of Medicine. She will be employed as a physician beginning in June.
The future groom is a 1999 graduate of Salina Central High School, a 2003 graduate of Kansas State University in Manhattan with a bachelor of science degree in biology and a 2007 graduate of the Kansas City University of Medicine with a doctor of osteopathic medicine degree. He is employed with Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Ill., as a physician.
Their wedding is to be Friday, June 6, 2008, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Kansas City. A reception will follow in the Sawyer Room.

Wedding: Spurgin and Benight

NaTacia Spurgin and Josh Benight were married Dec. 23, 2007, at their St. Joseph home by Richard Flumer.
She is the daughter of Brenda and Lee Blakeslee of St. Joseph. He is the son of Barb and DL Williams of St. Joseph.
The bride was escorted by her father.
Maid of honor was Cheyenne Blakeslee, and bridesmaids were Alora and Rylee Benight, Alexis Turner and Haylee Williams.
Best man was Austin Benight.
The newlyweds live in St. Joseph.
She is a graduate of Benton High School. He is a graduate of Benton and is employed with Greg Motors as a sales manager.

Wedding: Stanton and Morris

Kelly Stanton and John Morris were married Oct. 13, 2007, at Wyatt Park Christian Church by Scott Kilgore.
She is the daughter of Theresa and Ralph Stanton of Savannah, Mo.
He is the son of Joyce and James “Pod” Morris of Oregon, Mo.
The bride was escorted by her father.
Maid of honor was Andrea Stanton, and bridesmaids were Wendy Hargis and Amber Wilcox.
Best man was Jim Morris, and groomsmen were Ben Morris and Jerome Thurnau.
Ushers were Jon Bailey and Kevin Klawuhn.
A reception was held at Moila Shrine Temple. The rehearsal dinner was held at Chloe & Bernard’s.
The newlyweds honeymooned in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. They live in St. Joseph.
She is a 1998 graduate of Savannah (Mo.) High School and a 2002 graduate of Missouri Western State College with a bachelor of science degree in commercial art. She is employed with the Rolling Hills Library as a library assistant.
He is a 1995 graduate of South Holt High School in Oregon and a 2001 graduate of Missouri Western with a bachelor of science degree in video production. He is employed with KQ2 as a creative services producer.

Angela Marie Till and Travis Kennedy Hollars were married Aug. 18, 2007, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church by the Rev. Bill Walter.
She is the daughter of Cecilia and Henry John Till of St. Joseph. He is the son of Annette and Louis Hollars of St. Joseph.
The bride was escorted by her father.
Maid of honor was Ashley Coats, and bridesmaids were Ashley Hollars, Alexis Wiedmaier, Carey Chellew, Misty Schneider and Monica Till.
Best man was Derrick Lovelady, Adam Richie, Mike Jackson, Juan Rodriguez, Colby Muff and Chris Till.
Others in the wedding party were: Abbie Adkins and Claire Kendrick, flower girls; Anakin Thornton, ring bearer; and Hunter Hollars, Travis Till, Bo Adkins and Christian Muff, ushers.
A reception was held in the church hall. The newlyweds honeymooned in Branson, Mo. They live in St. Joseph.
She is a 2002 graduate of Savannah (Mo.) High School and a 2005 graduate of Missouri Western State College with an associate’s degree in health information technology. She is employed with Northwest Health Services as a health information coordinator/privacy officer.
He is a 2002 graduate of Lafayette High School and is employed with Sara Lee as a machine operator.

Noelle Joy Tritten and Nathan Matthew Simmons were married Sept. 22, 2007, at First Presbyterian Church by Jonathan Garlock.
She is the daughter of Shannon and Mike Tritten of Union Star, Mo. He is the son of Cheryl and Randy Simmons of Plattsburg, Mo.
The bride was escorted by her father.
Matron of honor was Amanda Casper, and bridesmaids were Carri Carvel, January Myers, Beth Bell and Beth Ann Hutchcraft.
Best man was Jimmy Tinnen, and groomsmen were Grant Murphy, Jesse Simmons, Tyler Tritten and Luke Carter.

A reception was held at the Stoney Creek Inn.
The rehearsal dinner was held in the Meierhoffer Funeral Home in the community room.
The newlyweds honeymooned in Acapulco, Mexico. They live in Plattsburg.
She is a 2001 graduate of Union Star High School, a 2005 graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City with a bachelor of music education degree and is pursuing a master of science degree in accounting and business administration. She is employed with 360 Architecture Inc. in Kansas City in finance and human resources.
He is a 2000 graduate of Plattsburg High School and is employed with Blue Moon Hauling in Smithville, Mo., as a heavy equipment operator.
