Engagement: Sellars and Griffin

Amber Sellars and Bradley Griffin are engaged to be married.
She is the daughter of Dawn Sellars and Bill Sellars both of Stewartsville, Mo. He is the son of Tanya and Kevin Griffin of Stewartsville.
The future bride is a 2005 graduate of Stewartsville High School and a 2007 graduate of Missouri Western State University. She is employed with Rehab Choice in St. Joseph as a physical therapist assistant.
The future groom, a 2005 graduate of Stewartsville High School, will graduate in 2010 from Missouri Western State University with a bachelor of science degree in English education. He is employed with McTelco in St. Joseph as a technician.

Anniversary: Diggs

SAVANNAH, Mo. — Kenneth and Helen Diggs of Savannah will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary Sunday, May 18.
They were married on that date in 1943 in Kansas City, Kan.

The future bride is a 1998 graduate of Bishop LeBlond High School and a 2003 graduate of Missouri Western State University with a degree in English/technical communications. She is employed with DST Systems Inc. in Kansas City as a senior technical writer.
The future groom is a 2002 graduate of Central High School and is employed with Fastenal as a sales manager.

Wedding: Hummer and Runnebaum

Lindsay Hummer and Nicholas Runnebaum were married Nov. 3. 2007, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in St. Joseph by the Rev. Tom Ludwig and pastor Davis Hodum.
She is the daughter of Tara and Rick Hummer of Savannah, Mo. He is the son of Norma and Donald Runnebaum of Leavenworth, Kan.
The bride was escorted by her father.
Maid of honor was Jen Osbourne, and bridesmaids were Haley Hummer, Regan Shoemaker and Nicole Garner.
Best man was Mike Strouhal, and groomsmen were Case Collard, Mike Barrera and Kyle Hummer.
Others in the wedding party were: Lucy Brock and Lauren Brock, flower girls; Andrew Allen and Adam Allen, ring bearers; Scott Hannaford, Justin Kulick, Jamey McGilbray, Bryan Shelly and John Van Daley, ushers. Luke Hummer and John Weeks, altar servers; Gregory Miller, organist; and Christie Ottinger, vocalist.
A reception was held at the church. The rehearsal dinner was held at the Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art.
The newlyweds honeymooned in The Keys and South Beach, Fla. They live in Leavenworth.
She is a 2002 graduate of Savannah High School and a 2005 graduate of Rockhurst University in Kansas City with a bachelor of arts degree in political science, communications and non-profit leadership studies. She is employed with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in Kansas City as a corporate development coordinator.
He is a 1999 graduate of Lansing (Kan.) High School and a 2005 graduate of St. Mary’s University in Leavenworth with a bachelor of arts degree in business administration degree. He is employed with the Department of Defense at Fort Leavenworth as a FMWR publicist.

Anniversary: Allen

Bob and Charlotte Allen, former Gallatin, Mo., residents now living in Raymore, Mo., will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary at an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 17, in the fellowship hall of Raymore Christian Church.

They were married May 22, 1948 at First Christian Church in Maryville, Mo., and moved to Raymore in March.
He is a veteran of World War II, having served in the Navy. He graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in 1947, attended Philips University and Seminary in Enid, Okla, and was ordained in the Christian Church (Disciples) in 1954 in South Haven, Kan. He is a retired pastor and served churches in Maryville, Albany, Maysville and Kidder, Mo.
She taught in Farrigut, Iowa., and in Oklahoma.
Both served as missionaries to the Philippines and as pastorates for more than 50 years in Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Connecticut and Iowa.
Hosting the event will be sons and daughters-in-law, Dave and Peggy Allen and Steve and Jackie Allen, all of Blue Springs, Mo., and Jon and Linda Allen of St. Joseph. There are seven grandchildren.

Anniversary: Markt

Robert and Patsy Markt of St. Joseph will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary on Saturday, May 17.
They were married on that date in Miami Okla.
He has been in the trucking business as owner of Markt Truck Line for more than 50 years. They also owned the Painted Pony Lounge for 20 years, and she managed the Painted Pony the last few years they were in business.
Their sons are: Tim Markt of St. Joseph; Charles Markt of Topeka, Kan.; Randy Kessler of Atchison, Kan.; and Rich Kessler and his wife, Sharon, of Grimes, Iowa. There are seven grandchildren.

Russell and Karen Smith of St. Joseph celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary May 8.
They were married on that date in 1958 at the home of the groom’s parents.

KING CITY, Mo. — Dyas and Patricia Brown of King City celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary May 10.
They were married on that date in 1968. He retired from Mead and from the Army National Guard.
