Engagement: Weitlich and Jackson

Vanessa Rae Weitlich and Zebul Frank Jackson are engaged to be married.
She is the daughter of Kim and Rod Fry of DeKalb, Mo., and Ron and Connie Weitlich of St. Joseph. He is the son of Jim and Lila Jackson of Union Star, Mo., and Danny and Diane Jeans of Elijay, Ga.
The future bride is a 2003 graduate of DeKalb High School and a 2007 graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. She is attending classes at Rockhurst University to become a registered nurse and is employed with the Watson & Dameron Law Firm in Kansas City as a legal secretary.
The future groom is a 1999 graduate of Union Star R-II High School and served in the Marines. He is an apprentice bricklayer with the Kansas City Bricklayers’ Union.
Their wedding is to be at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2008, at Central Christian Church. A reception will follow at the United Ballroom. Friends and relatives are invited.

Engagement: Shelton and Losson

Erin Stephanie Shelton and Patrick Christopher Losson are engaged to be married.
She is the daughter of Sharon and Stephen Shelton of Jackson, Mo. He is the son of Deanna and Christopher Losson of St. Joseph.
The future bride is a 2002 graduate of Sikeston (Mo.) High School and a 2006 graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia with a bachelor of science degree in architectural studies. She is as an interior designer in St. Louis.
The future groom is a 2001 graduate of Bishop LeBlond High School and a 2005 graduate of MU with a bachelor of science degree in business finance. He is employed with Epic Systems in Madison, Wis., as a health care software consultant and is currently working in St. Louis.
Their wedding is to be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2008, at Epiphany of Our Lord Catholic Church in St. Louis. A reception will follow at 6:30 p.m. at Visitor Center in Forest Park. Friends and relatives are invited.

Tassie LeAnn Ashford and Brian Alan Renshaw are engaged to be married.
She is the daughter of Pat and Steve Howard of Maryville, Mo., and Richard Ashford of Mound City, Mo. He is the son of Debby and Roger Renshaw of Barnard, Mo.
The future bride is a 2000 graduate of Nodaway-Holt R-VII High School in Graham, Mo., and a 2007 graduate of North Central Missouri College in Trenton, Mo., with an associate degree in nursing. She is employed with Heartland Regional Medical Center as a registered nurse on the medical telemetry/pulmonolgy unit.
The future groom is a 1999 graduate of Nodaway-Holt R-VII High School. He is employed with Shipps Grain Inc. and is an independent farmer.

Laura Ellen Modlin and Ryan Linn Bowling are engaged to be married.
She is the daughter of Robyn and Martin Modlin of St. Joseph. He is the son of Marilyn and Ron Bowling of Lenexa, Kan.
The future bride is a 2001 graduate of Bishop LeBlond High School and a 2005 graduate of Kansas State University in Manhattan with a degree in marketing and management, international business, and a minor in Spanish. She is employed with C.H. Robinson Worldwide in Overland Park, Kan. in sales.
The future groom is a 2000 graduate of Shawnee Mission (Kan.) Northwest High School and a 2004 graduate of K-State with a bachelor of arts degree in marketing and international business and a minor in Spanish. He is employed with Colonial Life in sales.
Their wedding will be Saturday, June 14, 2008, at the St, Francis Xavier Church.

Maranda Miller and Jeff Urquhart are engaged to be married.
She is the daughter of Rhonda M. Gentry of St. Joseph. He is the son of Penny and Tim Tyler and Kenny and Cathy Urquhart, all of St. Joseph.
The future bride, a 2002 graduate of Benton High School, attended Cleveland Chiropractic College and now is pursuing a nursing degree at Missouri Western State University. She is employed with Choices of St. Joseph as a medication aide and caregiver for the mentally handicapped.
The future groom is a 2002 graduate of Benton High School and is employed with Ivy Steel and Wire as a forklift operator.
A private ceremony is to be held Saturday, May 31, 2008.

Engagement: Portman and Moore

Megan M. Portman and Caleb Moore are engaged to be married.
She is the daughter of Cheryl and Patrick Portman of St. Joseph. He is the son of Dee and John Moore of Platte City, Mo.
The future bride is a 2001 graduate of Lafayette High School, a 2005 graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia with a bachelor of science degree in communication disorders and a 2007 graduate of Florida State University in Tallahassee with a master’s degree in communication disorders with an emphasis in autism. She is employed with the Liberty (Mo.) School District and will be employed next school year with the Oak Harbor (Wash.) School District as a speech-language pathologist.
The future groom is a 2000 graduate of Benton High School and a 2004 graduate of MU with a bachelor of science degree in political science. He is a naval flight officer in the Navy and currently is stationed in Oak Harbor.
Their wedding will be at 5 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2008, at First Baptist Church. A reception will follow at 6:30 p.m. at the Stoney Creek Inn.

Engagement: Horn and Knott

Megan Horn and Douglas Knott II are engaged to be married.
She is the daughter of Jim and Nancy Horn of Grayson, Mo. He is the son of Douglas and Barbara Knott II of Lathrop, Mo., and Larry and Bernice Holloway of Marceline, Mo.
The future bride, a 2002 graduate of East Buchanan High School, attended Missouri Western State University and now is represented by Wilhelmina Modeling Agency for modeling/acting. She is employed by American Made Gymnastics where she coaches cheerleading, dance and gymnastics in Dearborn, Mo., and Kabana Tanz in Smithville as a tanning administrator.
The future groom, a 2003 graduate of Marceline High School, attended Moberly Area Community College and received a NARS certificate of completion from Johnson County Community College. He is employed with Union Pacific as a railroad conductor.
Their wedding is to be Saturday, June 7, 2008, at the Krug Park rose gardens.

Wedding: Hartman and Skipper

Christy Danielle Hartman and Brent Randall Skipper were married Nov. 27, 2007, at First Baptist Church in Ashford, Ala., by Micah Fries.
She is the daughter of Vera and Dan Hartman, former Dearborn, Mo., residents now living in Dothan, Ala. He is the son of Sheila and Mickey Skipper of Ashford.
The bride was escorted by her father.
Matron of honor was Tracy Fries, and bridesmaids were Sarah Rush, Jamie Peters, Brooke Hughes and Brandi Paramore.
Best man was the groom’s father, and groomsmen were Eric Hatcher, Jansen Sowell, Jeffrey Haddan and Brandon Sykes.
Others in the wedding party were: Grace and Kessed Fries, flower girls; Clay and Collin Paramore, ring bearers; and Josh Hughes, Terry Paramore, Seth Rush and Matt Steele, ushers.
A reception and the rehearsal dinner were held at the church.
The newlyweds honeymooned in Orlando, Fla. They live in Cowarts, Ala.
She is a 2001 graduate of Emmanuel Christian High School in Dothan and a 2005 graduate of Wallace Community College, also in Dothan, with an associate of applied science degree in emergency medicine. She is employed with Flowers Hospital in Dothan as an ER technician and with the United States Department of Defense at Ft. Rucker, Ala. as a paramedic.
He is a 2005 graduate of Ashford High School and is employed with the Ozark (Ala.) Fire Department as a firefighter and with Hartford (Ala.) Rescue.

Wedding: Proctor and Langlois

Shirley Proctor and Eric Langlois were married April 26, 2008, at Twin Spires.
She is the daughter of Shirley Bibb of St. Joseph and the late Richard Bibb. He is the son of LouWana Langlois of Warrensburg, Mo., and Claude “Bud” and Brenda Langlois of Kentucky.
The bride was escorted by Larry Bibb.
Matron of honor was Peggy Hawkins, and bridesmaid was Keri Steidel.
Best man was Craig Kendell, and groomsman was Marion Butterfield.
Others in the wedding party were: Chelsy Proctor, flower girl; Jesse Rainez, ring bearer; and Brenda Langlois, escorted by Claude “Bud” Langlois, and Shirley Bibb, candlelighters.
A reception was held at Twin Spires.
The newlyweds honeymooned at the Stoney Creek Inn. They live in St. Joseph.
She is a 1999 graduate of Benton High School and is employed with Drury Inn Suites as a housekeeper.
He attended Warrensburg High School, received a GED and attended Central Missouri State University. He is employed with Atchison Casting as a molder.

Engagement: Merten and Hieronymus

Natalie Merten and William Robert Hieronymus II are engaged to be married.
She is the daughter of Mary and Ray Merten of St. Joseph. He is the son of Debrah and William Hieronymus of Eldon, Mo.
The future bride is a 2002 graduate of Benton High School, a 2002 graduate of Hillyard Technical Center and a 2006 graduate of Hawaii Community College in Hilo, with degrees as a certified nurse’s assistant, a substance abuse counselor and an associate’s degree in art. She is a homemaker.
The future groom is a graduate of American School in Salina, Kan., and is a 1999 graduate of Salina Area Vocational Technical School with a degree in auto body welding. He owns A & A Services in Salina.

The future groom is a 1969 graduate of Everet (Mich.) High School and a 1978 graduate of Michigan Technology University with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering. He is employed with the Boeing Co. in Wichita, Kan., as a structural engineer.

Anniversary: Hellums

SAVANNAH, Mo. — Eldon and Eva Hellums of Savannah celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary May 8.
They were married on that date in 1943 at Savannah Avenue Baptist Church.
He is a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps. He retired from Dugdale Packing Co. She retired from the Social Security Administration.
There are three children and five grandchildren.

Anniversary: Bonner

Don and Margie Bonner, former St. Joseph residents now living in Prairie Village, Kan., will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Friday, May 23.
They were married on that date in 1948 at the Savannah (Mo.) Methodist Church. He is retired from Silgan Containers, and she is retired from the state of Missouri. They lived in St. Joseph for 50 years.
Their daughter and son-in-law are Karen and Harry Gallagher of Kansas City. A son James Kirk Bonner is deceased.
There are three grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, 11 step-great-grandchildren and three step-great-great-grandchildren.

James F. and Joan Huber of St. Joseph will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Thursday, May 22.
They were married on that date in 1958 at Savannah Avenue Baptist Church. He retired from the FAA after 25 years of service as an air traffic controller. She is a homemaker.
Their children and their spouses are James Jr. and Joan Huber of Spring Hill, Kan., and Gina and Lonnie Gay of St. Joseph. There are three grandchildren.

They were married on that date in 1983 at First Christian Church in Faucett, Mo. He works for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad as a bridge inspector. She works as an administrative assistant at ProSource One.

They were married on that date in 1968. He retired from Mead and from the Army National Guard.
Their children and their spouses are: Rickey and Robin Crockett, Vicky and Bobby Gardner and Raymond Crockett, all of St. Joseph; Kathy Crockett and Ron Conger of Branson, Mo.; and Melvin Godsey and Gary and Kristy Brown, all of King City. There are 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
