Don and Ruth Kelly were married on August 30, 1959, at the Lucerne Christian Church in Lucerne, Mo. They will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a family gathering in St. Joseph the weekend of August 30. Don served in public schools in Missouri and Iowa for 33 years as a teacher, counselor, and an administrator; and also in the Missouri State Department of Education in Jefferson City. He retired from the St. Joseph School District as Associate Superintendent of Business Affairs. Ruth worked in State Government offices in Jefferson City before they moved to St. Joseph in 1983. She retired from Missouri Western State University. They are the parents of two children: a daughter, Lana Patterson and husband, Kent, of Greenwood, Ind.; and a son, Scott Kelly and his wife, Lisa, of Overland Park, Kan. They have five grandchildren: Blake, Logan, and Collin Patterson; and John and Katie Kelly.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Angie (Thweatt) and Walter Neibling of Highland, Kan.; and the granddaughter of Harvey and Maryellen Neibling of Highland; the late Charlene and Troy Jeffcoat of Hazen, Ark.; and the late James Thweatt of Bebee, Ark. Stacy is a 2002 graduate of Highland Community College and 2004 graduate of Northwest Missouri State University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in broadcasting. She is currently employed with Eagle Communications. The prospective groom is the son of Suzanne and Davey Fisher of Smithville, Mo., and the grandson of Barbara and Donald Matheny of Marion, Iowa; the late Donavan Morrison of Albernet, Iowa; and the late Matilda and Davey Fisher, Sr., of Winston, Mo. Andrew is a 2003 graduate of West Platte High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps for five years. He is presently attending Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph. A wedding at the United Methodist Presbyterian Church in Highland is planned for September 5 with a reception following in St. Joseph.

Ashley Michelle Rickerson and Joshua Carl Matthias are engaged to be married on April 24, 2010, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in St. Joseph. The couple will celebrate with friends and family at a reception to follow at the St. Francis Parish Center. Ashley is the daughter of Randy and Robin Rickerson of St. Joseph. The future bride graduated from Lafayette High School in 2002. She is a 2005 graduate of Northwest Missouri State University with a degree in Public Relations and a 2008 graduate of Missouri Western State University with a degree in Elementary Education. Ashley is employed with the St. Joseph School District as a teacher. Joshua is the son of Morris and Bridget Matthias of St. Joseph. The future groom graduated from Bishop LeBlond High School in 1999. He is a 2004 graduate of the University of Missouri-Rolla with a degree in Chemical Engineering and a 2009 graduate of Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. Josh is currently doing his residency at KU Medical Center. The couple will live in Kansas City, Mo.

Ashley Beth Thornton and Sean Christopher Smith were united in marriage on May 24, 2009. She is the daughter of Danny and Vicki Thornton of St. Joseph. Ashley received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of Central Missouri and a Master of Science degree in veterinary biomedical science from Kansas State University. She is a quality assurance specialist at Intervet/Schering Plough Animal Health. Sean is the son of Stephen and Dorothy Smith of Gower, Mo., and the grandson of John Crosby of Lee's Summit, Mo. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology. Sean is a Technical Director at Central Solutions, Inc. He and the bride are both residents of Lenexa, Kan. The wedding took place at 7:30 p.m. in a glass chapel at Powell Gardens in Kingsville, Mo. Elder Sam Church officiated the ceremony. The bride's father, Danny Thornton, escorted her down the aisle. Megan Jacob was matron of honor and Josh Church was the best man. Amanda Robinson was a bridesmaid; Samuel Church served as a groomsman. Other participants in the ceremony were: ushers, Siose Molia and Darrin Ottinger; flowergirl, Alexis Molia; ring bearer, Devin Molia; candle lighters, Tiffany Molia and Heather Smith; guest book attendant, Latisha Little; program helpers, Emmalee Talbott and Alexandra Kelley; and music coordinator, Paul Jacob. The groom's parents hosted rehearsal dinner at The Smokehouse Grill in Independence, Mo., on May 21. A reception was held at Hilton Garden Inn in Independence. The couple honeymooned at their grandfather's cabin in Burdickville, Mich.

Rachel is pursuing her MBA at Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, Mo., and is an accountant at Kansas City Board of Trade. Ian recently completed his associate's degree as a physical therapist assistant from Missouri Western State University, St. Joseph, and is pursuing a bachelor's degree in health and exercise science. He works at KOHL's. He is the son of Larry and Elizabeth Hessemyer of St. Joseph. His grandparents are Ruth Barbosa-Curtin and the late James Curtin, and Howard and Helen Hessemyer, all of St. Joseph. The wedding will take place September 5, 2009, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in St. Joseph. A reception will be held at Knights of Columbus.

They have lived in St. Joseph all their married lives. He retired from Armour & Co. after 36 years of service. She retired from The Lee Co. after 23 years of service. They are the parents of three children: Duaine (Kris) Rebiskie of St. Bonifacius, Minn.; Diane (George) Tolson and Randy Valezquez of St. Joseph. A son, David Joseph, is deceased.
