Adkins

Alvin and Patricia (Cornell) Adkins of St. Joseph will soon celebrate 40 years of marriage. They were married on June 21, 1969, at the Green Valley Baptist Church in St. Joseph. Their children are Bobby (Gail) Adkins, Doug Adkins, and Shane (Beth) Stephens. There are three grandchildren, Cole, Abbie, and Mason. A private reception will be given by their children. Ronnie and Tracy Arnold of Stewartsville, Mo., will celebrate 25 years of marriage with a vow renewal ceremony on June 20, 2009, at 6 p.m. at the Bethany Christian Church, Stewartsville. A reception will follow at the Stewartsville Fire Protection Community Room, Stewartsville. Friends and family are invited to attend both. They were married June 5, 1984, in Miami, Okla. John and Elaine (Kline) Chirieleison of Agency, Mo., will be celebrating 50 years of marriage. They were married on June 9, 1959. John retired from Wire Rope Corp of America. Elaine worked for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. and retired from Sherwood Medical Co. and The St. Joseph School District. They have two children: John Martin Chirieleison and Debbie Stagner of St. Joseph. They have five grandchildren: Caprice Stagner, Kendall Stagner, Darlisa Chirieleison, Gabrielle Chirieleison and Keri Stagner. There will be a celebration hosted by their children and grandchildren from 7 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. June 19 at the Eagles Lodge. Family and friends are welcome, and your presence is gift enough.

Ralph and Barbara (Wirt) Colby were united in marriage on June 14, 1959, at the Methodist Church in Trenton, Mo. Ralph worked for Dannen Mills and the St. Joseph Terminal Railroad, retiring from Union Pacific Railroad. Barbara worked for Sister's Hospital and the Thompson Brumm, Knepper Clinic. She is a retired medical technologist. They have two children: son, Michael and wife, Brenda, and grandchildren, Luke, Elizabeth, Aaron, and Daniel, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; daughter, Rev. Vicky and husband, James Eastland, of Catskill, N.Y. Vicky and James are in the process of adopting a son, Raju, from Mumbai, India. Cunningham and Coy

Jamie Lynn Cunningham and Tyson Lee Coy are engaged to be married. She is the daughter of James F. and Mary T. Cunningham of St. Joseph. He is the son of Vernon and Marla Coy of Grant City, Mo., and Jackie and Tom Roberts of St. Joseph. The bride-elect is a 2004 graduate of Mid-Buchanan High School and a 2008 graduate of Northwest Missouri State University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education. She is currently employed as a first grade teacher with Mid-Buchanan RV Elementary in Faucett, Mo. The future groom is a 2001 graduate of Benton High School and is employed as a group leader at Altec Industries. The wedding will take place at 2 p.m. July 18, 2009, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in St. Joseph. Reception following at 6 p.m. at the American Legion. Ferguson

Roy and Janice (Wing) Ferguson of St. Joseph celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on June 4, 2009. They were married in 1969 at the First Christian Church of St. Joseph. Janice graduated Central High School and continues to work at Wing Printing, a family owned business, along with several shifts at Weight Watchers. Early in the marriage, she stayed home to raise three children, Tyson and Denice Ferguson-Hector, Brandon and Christy Scott-Ferguson, and Devin and Danielle Richards-Ferguson. Roy graduated from the University of Missouri, Columbia, with a bachelor of science in agriculture and he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Army. He also graduated from Missouri Western State College in St. Joseph with a bachelor of science in animal husbandry. Roy returned from active deployment in Vietnam and has since been self-employed farming for over 35 years. They have two grandchildren, Madison Hector and Alexis Ferguson. A reception was hosted by their children on May 30 at Volley's; many friends and family attended. No gifts, please. Cassie Raye Fothergill and Andrew Duane Holmes are engaged to be married. She is the daughter of Curt and Tracy Fothergill. The future bride and her parents are residents of Savannah, Mo. Andrew resides in St. Joseph. He is the son of Randy and Lou Ann Holmes of St. Joseph. The wedding will take place at 5 p.m. on June 20, 2009, at Hope Church in Cosby, Mo. A reception will follow from 7 to midnight at Stop Ten Rental Hall, St. Joseph.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Frankovic of Overland Park, Kan., are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Christine Ann, to Joshua Daniel Zaroor. Joshua is the son of Daniel Zaroor of Gower, Mo., and Robin Kuenzie of Englewood, Fla. The bride-elect is a graduate of Kansas State University with a bachelor of science degree in microbiology. She was a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority. Christine is employed at AAIPharma, Inc. The prospective groom is a graduate of Benedictine College with a bachelor of arts degree in economics. Josh is a past president of Benedictine's Alumni Association. He is employed at Intuit. The couple plan to be wed on Sept. 4, 2009, at Saint Agnes Catholic Church, Roeland Park, Kan. A celebration will follow at The Sawyer Room, Kansas City, Mo.

Bob and DeAnna Hatten of St. Joseph will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception to be held at the Albrecht-Kemper Art Museum in St. Joseph from 3 to 6 p.m. on Father's Day, Sunday, June 21. She is the former DeAnna Williams of New Hampton, Mo. They were married on Father's Day, June 21, 1959, at the New Hampton Methodist Church. Bob owned his own insurance agency for 40 years, service northwest Missouri. DeAnna served as an administrative secretary to the city manager at St. Joseph City Hall for 13 years, and then moved to the Chamber of Commerce to be an administrative office manager for seven years. They have now both retired. Hosting this event with their parents will be their two sons and families, Steve Hatten and wife, Sue, of Liberty, Mo., and their three daughters, Lauren, Julia, and Kara, as well as Phillip Hatten and wife, Jennifer, of Omaha, Neb., and their twin daughters, Amber and Ashley, Phillip and Jaycie. Their third son, Brad, was killed in a tragic construction accident in 1996. Friends and relatives are invited. Your presence and the love of our family will be our gift.

John and Barbara (Laderoute) Punzo of Basehor, Kan., will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary June 20. To celebrate, they went on a Caribbean cruise with family. They have four daughters and seven grandchildren: Diane and Doug Penner (Christy and Kevin) of Sammamish, Wash.; Denise and Doug Fundis (Jason and Marcie) of Berryton, Kan.; Connie Fenton and Dennis Smith (Lindsey and Kelsey) of Basehor; and Susan and Chauncey Anderson (Teagan) of Warrensburg, Mo. On May 16, 1944, Verne Sidney Ray wed Betty Virginia Hughart in the vault of the Atchison, Kan., courthouse. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Saturday, May 16, 2009. Their daughters are Vicky (Harold) Chilcoat, St. Joseph, and Christin (David) Ramsey, Kirksville, Mo. They have four grandchildren, Eric (Noelle) Chilcoat, Overland, Mo., Kyle (Krista) Chilcoat, Carra (Randy) Roth and Timothy Ramsey, all of St. Joseph. Great-grandchildren are Emma, Ansley, Zoe, Adara and Rayna Chilcoat and Jack Roth. The whole family celebrated with photos at the Albrecht-Kemper garden and a family dinner at Galvin's Dinnerhouse. Gevan LeeAnne Jefferies and Nicholas Andrew McIntosh were united in marriage on April 18, 2009, during a ceremony held at Huffman Memorial United Methodist Church, St. Joseph. Gevan is a registered nurse at Northwest Missouri Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center. She is the daughter of Tim and Angela Jefferies, St. Joseph. Her grandmother is Jo Jefferies of St. Joseph. Nick is a surgical technician at Heartland Regional Medical Center and is currently pursuing a career in nursing. He is the son of John and Patty McIntosh of St. Joseph. His grandmothers are Norma McIntosh, St. Joseph, and Leotta Cook, Branson, Mo. The Rev. Bruce Jacobs performed the ceremony. The bride was escorted by her father, Tim. Other participants in the wedding included maid of honor Kendra Jefferies; bridesmaids Mandy Stewart and Elise Haenni; flower girls Jillian Wise and Abby Jefferies; best man Cody McIntosh; groomsmen Brett Langner and Steven Scott; ring bearers Ruel Jefferies and Ethan Steiner; candlelighters Melissa McIntosh and Travis Ellis; and ushers Timmy Jefferies and Brian McIntosh. A rehearsal dinner was held at San Jose Steakhouse. A reception immediately followed the wedding ceremony at Mitchell Park Plaza. The couple honeymooned in Estes Park, Colo.

The bride-elect's maternal grandparents are J.W. and Louise Griffith of Rushville, Mo. Her paternal grandparents are Robert and Dorthea "Whitie" Wollenman of St. Joseph. Whitney graduated from Central High School in 2001 and the University of South Florida in 2006. She is currently an accountant at Management Sciences for Health. Jonathan is the son of the late Eldred Barnardo of Durban, South Africa and Henriette and Felipe Caneiro of Palm Harbor, Fla. His grandparents are Henri and Yvette Antelme of Durban, South Africa. The future groom is attending Boston Architectural College and is employed as an architectural designer. The couple will be married on August 29, 2009, in Antrim, N.H. Their ceremony and reception will take place at Bass Farm.
