Adkisson and Strasser

Regan and Patti Adkisson, St. Joseph, and Ralph and Karen Strasser, St. Joseph, announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their children, Julianne Nicole Adkisson and Kent Gregory Strasser. The bride elect is a 2005 graduate of Savannah High School and a 2009 graduate of Harding University, where she earned a bachelor of arts degree in business administration and a minor in graphic design. The future groom is a 2003 graduate of Savannah High School and a 2007 graduate of Northwest Missouri State University, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in geographical information science. He is pursuing a master's degree through Penn State University in geographical information systems. He is employed as a GIS administrator/analyst for Trow Engineering Consultants, Inc., Tallahassee, Fla. The couple plans a 5 p.m. Sept. 12, 2009, wedding at First Presbyterian Church in St. Joseph with a reception to follow at the Holiday Inn Riverfront.

Banks and Spiking

Lyndsay Banks and Luke Spiking are engaged to be married. Lyndsay is the daughter of Kathleen and Russell Banks of Paris, Ontario, Canada. Luke is the son of Julie and Jim Spiking of King City, Mo. The future bride is a 2006 graduate of the University of Missouri in Columbia with a B.A. in psychology, and a 2009 graduate of UMKC School of Law with a juris doctorate. Lyndsay is employed with McAnany, Van Cleave, and Phillips Law Firm in Kansas City, Mo. The groom is a 2005 graduate of the University of Missouri with a B.S. in business administration. He is employed with Farmers Insurance Group in Olathe, Kan. Their wedding is to be at 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Kitchener, Ontario. A reception will immediately follow at Verses Restaurant in Kitchener.

Joe and Linda Campbell are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary on June 23. Linda is retired from Johnson Controls. Joe is still employed with D.E. Contracting. Jerry and Judy (Brychta) Chambers celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 20. They were married on that date in 1959 at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral. Both were 1957 graduates of Central High School. Jerry is retired from Quaker Oats and Judy is retired from Southwestern Bell. They currently reside in Lake Ozark, Mo., during the summer and Surprise, Ariz., in the winter. They are the parents of three sons: Mike Chambers and wife, Maribeth, of Kansas City; Chris Chambers and wife, Mindy, of Kansas City; and Matt Chambers and wife, Stephanie, of St. Louis. They also have 10 grandchildren: Luke, Gabriel, Dominic, Sophie and John of Kansas City; Clare, Sam and Joe of Kansas City; and Isaac and Adelaide of St. Louis. Courtney Erin DeShon and Monish Amin are engaged to be married. The bride-elect is the daughter of David and Jo DeShon of Savannah, Mo. She graduated from Missouri State University with a bachelor of science degree and is a respiratory therapist at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis. Monish is a human resources manager with Target. He graduated from Missouri State University with a master's of business administration and is the son of Mr. Rustom and Dr. Nalini Amin of St. Charles, Mo. A traditional Indian ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, August 7, at the St. Louis (Mo.) Marriott West with a dinner and dance reception immediately following. An American ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Ameristar Casino in St. Charles. A dinner and dance reception will be held at 7:30 that evening.

Samantha Lee Zvolanek and Nicholas Edwards Draper, both of Idaho Falls, Idaho, were married on June 20, 2009.

Jim and Pat (Halter) Dykes will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 27. They were married in St. Joseph on that day in 1959 by Rev. Deckenger in a private ceremony at home. Their children are Steve Dykes and wife, Rita; Tina (Dykes) Conway and husband, Danny, of St. Joseph; and Tim Dykes of Orlando, Fla. There are three grandchildren: J.C., Courtney and Emily. Jim is semi-retired from the auto collision industry while Pat stays at home as a loving homemaker. Stefanie is a teacher with the St. Joseph School District. Cy is the son of Barry and Lynn Musser of St. Joseph, where he also resides. He graduated from Benton High School in 2000 and from Missouri Western State University in 2004. The future groom is a physical education teacher and coach with the St. Joseph School District. The wedding date is July 18, 2009. The ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. at Central Christian Church in St. Joseph.

Edith and Bill Laffoon were married in 1949. She is the granddaughter of Buster and Carolyn Mosier of DeKalb, Mo. Tonya graduated from Missouri Western State University in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in communications. She is a director at Specialized Support Services. Charley is a 2008 graduate of Missouri Western State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in history. He is the son of Ivan and Jackie Wells of DeKalb and is an animal behavior specialist with Nestle Purina.
