Nothing to sneeze at

I was down at the animal shelter today looking for a cat, and while I was there a man came in with a cat in a carrier wanting to leave the cat because the cat had allergies and he didn't want to deal with it. And I say to that man, shame on you. You have the pet. He should be your family pet. What if your children get sick? Do you just take them somewhere and dump them off and give them $10 and say, "Here you go." It's horrible what people do to animals. They're God's creatures. And for them just to think that they're throwaway and have no meaning, that's cruel, and it's horrible.

Fence thoughts

I just wanted to say hooray to Steve Booher for his column in Monday's paper. That was the first sensible comment that I have ever heard about illegal immigrants and the fence.

We're going to pay

I'm calling about these government stimulus rebate checks. Why is it that everybody thinks that it is a free gift? Don't they realize it's coming from the treasury and the government and the treasury borrows money, which affects our taxes. In fact, your article or your answer the other day didn't mention anything about taxes. It's a mixture of borrowing and income that the government takes. It's all taxes, and we're going to pay for it in the end.

Blowing smoke

Well, I'm a nonsmoker, and I see where Kansas City is going smokeless, and I was just kind of sitting here and wondering if everybody in the United States quit smoking and we lose all that tax, what are you going to do? Add tax to our gasoline to make up for it, or our food? As far as I'm concerned, if somebody smokes outside it doesn't bother me, as long as they don't blow smoke in my face.

Police confession

The Police Department admitted that the four-step process dealing with graffiti does not work. Is it going to stay in the same rut or dig for new solutions?

Raw sewage

I see in today's paper that Michael Reagan is back at spewing more raw sewage from his mouth again about how the Democrats are being compared to insurgents. It seems to me that he knows absolutely nothing about the conflict in Iraq, like he is trying to say about the Democrats. If he could only understand that nothing in Iraq seems to be working and that pulling out is not a defeat, it's common sense. Reagan is one of those guys who needs to go over there, put a gun in his hand, strap a canteen around his neck and let him fight for something that he has no idea what he's fighting for. Maybe his articles wold be a tad different the next day.

Cover up

It's good that the city of St. Joe is planning on resurfacing some of the streets with one or even a double layer of asphalt. However, our forefathers have left us with problems that, whether it was 1 or 2 inches of asphalt, our problems still will be there: the wrecked streets under the asphalt, the trolley tracks. The potholes that have been filled will fill again with water and will break out again from the one or two layers of asphalt. We need to fix the real problem, not just cover it up.

in regards to the underage party. the tenagers at spring garden that made a nieve yet stupid mistake got severe punishment. the business owners that sold to miners by accident or neglect will be punished. a local physician that is supposed to save lives knowingly endangered the welfare of not ony his own children but the welare of alot of other peoples children also.i dont give my children drugs or alchol and dont expect other parents to give it to them either. he is no better than a drug dealer on the streets and should be punished as one. i hope his social statis does not prevent him from the punishment he deserves. what if one of those kids would have gotten hurt or left the party and caused injury to an innocent citizen 0n the streets

I know this is off topic, but the next time you or someone you know wants to say something stupid like "Bush's war", please think back to the video at the below link. You may need to copy and paste the link into your browser.

Hey "Blowing Smoke." The savings associated with reduced healthcare costs will undoubtedly offset the loss of cigarette taxes. Additionally, any $$$ not spent of cigarettes will be spent on other goods and services and taxed as well. Overall, quitting smoking is a net gain for everyone.

Many of the clips on the video were taken out of context. Posting of 'junk' like that actually 'hurts' the GOP more than it helps because anyone who keeps an open mind, researches so-called facts, and doesn't judge based on a few remarks singled out on a video knows that the video is just what it is---

I am a Republican but I think it is time for some sort of shake-up. Our economy leaves much to desire. We have men and women who need to be back home. Like I tell my children, when they become perfect, they can others what to do. Maybe that is what the USA needs to do...fix itself before it tries to fix the world.

I think I finally figured out why so many people are on blood pressure medicine, DOCTOR OFFICE VISITS. I figured it out today while on a visit to my wife's doctor. By the time, which is usually at least 1/2 hour to 45 min. after your scheduled appt., you are so flippin mad that when the nurse takes your blood pressure it is extremely elevated, the doctor sees this, and that it has been elevated the last 5-6 visits, HA HA wonder why, the doctor prescribes blood pressure meds. Here's an idea.....get people in at thier scheduled time and don"t stand outside the door telling jokes and horseplaying with the nurses!!!!!

To the person who wrote about the 7th and 8th graders that need to pick trash on the roadside, it is not fair to single us out. We should all pitch in to help the community, because we all live here. Maybe if we all helped we could all help to solve the problem and try to prevent it in the future. Your opinion was taken in offense to the 7th and 8th graders.

dalearch--- All you have to do is watch the COMPLETE interviews to discover which clips were taken out of context. I, for one, would never post or repost a video like that without researching and watching the complete interviews. That is the problem though... too many people see videos like that and think they are the absolute truth and it only makes the post-er look like a fool to those of us who are responsible enough to verify information before repeating it or posting it as the truth.

lovingittogether: Are you really so dense that you can't see the whole point of my post? The very people that said these things are now saying that they didn't.
You still didn't answer my question either. Which ones were taken out of context? If you did so much research & know that they were taken out of context, then tell me which ones and where to find the "complete videos". It's as easy as that.
In my opinion, the real problem is people that can see and hear what someone is saying and still be so dense as to say they didn't say it.

Dalearch-- are you so dense that you can't see the whole point of my post? Look at the whole picture. Have you actually seen any of the senators or democrats on the video deny ever saying those things? I haven't. I have heard some of them say that they have basically changed their minds. Is that wrong? I change my mind all the time. Especially when presented with FACTS. We now know there weren't any WMD-- that was the supposed purpose of going to Iraq. Do any of those on the video claim they don't support our troops over there? What they are saying is they don't support the REASON they are over there any longer. Is that too hard for someone to understand?

What about that members of the GOP who were saying the same thing at the same time? Don't you follow current events enough to know that many of them have changed their minds. I don't see you posting their comments.

We could go back and forth about this all day. I still stand by my statement that those who post videos of that sort without researching-- or looking at the whole picture-- look like fools to those of us who do!

I'll try to explain this so that even you can understand.

I said if someone says something stupid like "Bush's war". I should have added someone saying something stupid like "Bush lied". The whole point of my posting it was to show that when we went to war all of the people in that video felt the same way. That is a fact. That can not be taken out of context.

I don't care who has or hasn't changed their minds. My point has nothing to do with what they say now.

My point has everything to do with what some of the people on the street are saying.

P.S. If you still can't understand, get someone to explain it to you.

This is my last post on this subject. I'm tired of wasting my time with you. I can tell by your replies that you obviously don't have the ability to understand what I was saying.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: when Mark Twain said "You'll never win an argument with an ignorant man" I'm sure he meant women too.

Once more, when people say "Bush's war" or "Bush lied", this video shows that everyone felt at that time - that it was the right thing to do. Therefore, it is not just Bush's war. That doesn't require any research. It is a fact.
