Belt will close for installation of footbridge
Weather permitting, the Missouri Department of Transportation will close Belt Highway between Pickett Road and 36 Highway Tuesday evening.
The closure is expected to last from 8pm Tuesday evening through 6am Wednesday morning.
The area is getting a new pedestrian bridge that will span the Belt just south of 36 on property that used to carry railroad traffic. It's all part of the city's pedestrian walking trail system. The bridge follows the trail where an old railroad track bed once carried trains.
MODOT says if the construction of the bridge can't be completed in one night, they'll shut down the road during the same hours Wednesday.
