How many questions could you answer correctly on the immigration test?

An article in the St. Joseph News-Press Friday on the growth of the hispanic population here in St. Joe garnered a hugh response from the public.

Much of it centered around the legal status of immigrants, and what those seeking immigration should do.

We hit the streets today to find out how much St. Joe residents know about the U.S. constitution.

Those questions we asked were some of the same questions found on the test immigrants must take to become U.S. citizens.

Who declares war?

How many amendments are there in the constitution?

What do the 13 stripes on the flag mean?

Some rights guaranteed by the First Amendment include freedom of speech and religion.

And it's the congress who declares war.

We looked into the process of becoming a citizen, and found some new guidelines being implemented by the U.S. government about the immigration process

St. Joseph's hispanic population grew 21 percent from 2006 to 2007...the largest in the country.
