Men charged with molestation out on bond
by Megan Tilk
Saturday, August 16, 2008

Three men charged with child molestation are now out on bond.

All three men were served with Gentry County warrants charging second-degree child molestation after allegedly having sexual intercourse with the same juvenile female.

Tim Wood, 20, of King City, Mo., was already in custody for a previous unrelated sexual molestation charge when officers served him with the warrant for the second case, said King City Police Chief John Epperson.

St. Joseph Police Department officers arrested Paul Phipps, 18, of King City, on Aug. 8. He was residing with a relative in St. Joseph.

Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers arrested Clay Hornback, 20, of Stanberry, Mo., in Bethany, Mo., on Aug. 12.

The arrests stem from a joint investigation by the King City Police and the Gentry County Sheriff’s departments.

All men posted a $5,000 bond and now await trial. Mr. Wood and Mr. Phipps are both due in court Wednesday at 9 a.m., while Mr. Hornback is due Sept. 3 at 9 a.m.

Another King City man charged with statutory rape and sodomy in an unrelated case also awaits trial.

Donald E. Davis, 28, King City, was arrested on Aug. 5, but has since posted a $30,000 bond and awaits a Sept. 4 trial.

Hmmm... It's funny how people can read an article and be so quick to cast judgement. I personally know each of the indiviuals in this report and also know the girl that was allegedly "molested". I would like to say that, yes this is a sick world that we live in and that there are several occurences of these allegations taking place where there is indeed truth to the situation. However, in this particular situation, it is one of those where the girl is very promiscuous and when the rumors start flying in these small rural communities, as it often does, this is how these girls try to play the role of victim to save face. Perhaps that is why there was only a $5000 bond because the court system here realizes this and knows what is going on. It happens all the time.

OK......so if a 14 Year old girl is promiscuous, that makes it ok for two 20 year olds and an 18 year old to have sex with her????? Who are the adults here?? Give me a break!

it doesnt matter how promicuouse the girl is. these boys knew better. even if she agreed as country says it doesnt matter they broke the law. look at it this way if they get off they will use the defense again and again everyone needs to be held accountable for there actions. they knew she was to young they should have walked away. they chose not to and now they have to pay the price.

also if anyone can answer this one why do we hold people less accountable for there actions when it is committed against a child than if it had been committed against an adult think about it if this had been an adult woman the bond would have been much higher is it that we believe a child cannot tell the truth

It is funny how quickly people pass judgment on others without actually knowing the facts surrounding the allegations. All you have to go by is what you have read in the paper, or possibly what you have heard from someone else. I think it's terrible how a girl will lie about her age for the sake of her promiscuity. One might ask the question where are her parents at? What is she doing running around at her age?

First of all to "amother" and "scrubnurse"... I am a mother, I have a daughter. Bet your God blessed behind that my daughter will never pull this crap EVER! Because I do, indeed, teach my children how to be responsible for their actions which is exactly what the parents of this girl in question should be doing. They should have taught their child better. Don't you ladies know by know that young men, or in this case they are still boys (I know them all and none of them should be considered mentally mature enough to be referred to as 'men'), however, almost all young men think with their winkies. When a girl goes out and lies about her age and glams herself all up and pushes herself off onto a guy... hmmm. What do you think the outcome is going to be? Exactly what you have read in this article.
You say that everyone needs to take responsibility for their actions and I do agree with that statement. These boys are taking responsibility. They each went in and gave their own statements on their own free wills before ever being arrested but it doesn't seem that media ever covers all aspects of anything. You only read what they allow you to read but I suppose that none of you think about things like that???
Are any of you married now? How much of an age difference is between you and your husbands? When you look at it like that then perhaps if you backtrack, maybe one of you or one of them should have faced the same charges. I know I would have, there are 5 years between my husband and me. HAve you ever thought about it like that?
