by Jennifer Hall
Sunday, August 17, 2008

Former professional athletes will be at the East Hill Shopping Center this week for a sports show.

The annual Sports Card & Collectibles Show, Aug. 22-24 at the mall will not only bring in sports fans but Christian Okoye and Brian McCrae.

Mr. Okoye, former Kansas City Chiefs all-pro running back, will be at East Hills from 12:30 to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Mr. McCrae, former Kansas City Royals center fielder, will appear from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Both men will be available for autographs and memorabilia signing during those times. Photos of the two players will be available for signing for a nominal fee but participants are also encouraged to bring in sports memorabilia for signing.

A portion of proceeds for Mr. Okoye will go to The Christian Okoye Foundation, an organization he created to help underprivileged children assume their role in society. Mr. McCrae’s proceeds will go to KC Sluggers, which started in 1991 with a group of 10-year-olds and in the past nine years, 150 KC Sluggers have graduated to play college baseball across the country.

Cool! Brian McCrae and his pops are good people.
