Kansas City quartet The Leo Project went from singer/guitarist Tyler Lyon’s hard rock side project to one of those regional groups destined for bigger things. The fact that they’ve opened for metal/ hard rock heavyweights like Slipknot, Breaking Benjamin and Shinedown sure helps.
The band channels hard and heavy groups with a knack for melody and harmony, like Sevendust and Staind.
“I think you listen to our songs... it really has an edge to it but it’s got this beautiful side to it that I just enjoy about music itself,” Lyons says. The Leo Project performs with Changing Faith and Sinfrastructure at 9 p.m. Aug. 23 at Cagney’s. Cover is $5.
