Attorney General Jay Nixon plans to fundraise in Northwest Missouri this weekend.

The Democratic candidate for governor will attend volunteer canvass events in Kansas City Saturday morning, but then will shoot over to rural Northwest Missouri for a series of "grasroots fundraisers."

He’s scheduled to "outline his vision to move Missouri forward on the economy, health care and education" at 12:15 p.m. Saturday at the Clinton County Democratic Headquarters, located at 100 E. Maple St. in Plattsburg, according to a news release.

Then at 2:15 p.m. he’ll move to a Gentry County fundraiser at the Albany Community Center, at 200 W. Rigney St. in Albany, Mo.

He’s scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. tour of Conception Wind Farm, located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 136 and Missouri Highway J, which stands just east of Conception Abbey.

He’ll round out his Northwest Missouri tour at 4:50 p.m. for an Atchison County fundraiser at Farmers State Bank in Tarkio, Mo. The bank is located at 512 Main St.

Many of his fellow Democrats running for statewide and Congressional offices also will push their platforms in the region Saturday. For details on their appearances and the lineup of day two of the Northwest Missouri Progressive Democrats’ annual weekend barbecue in St. Joseph, view Ken Newton’s blog post from earlier this week.
