St. Joseph Police have arrested a man employed at a local nursing home for deviate sexual activity with a resident.
State charges of felony deviate sexual assault have been filed against 33 year old Shawn A. Akins. The state alleges Mr. Akins forcibly sodomized a victim who had physical limitations due to multiple sclerosis.
According to St. Joseph Police, Mr. Akins has a past history for domestic assault and prior allegations of sexual assault. Akins has been released from custody on a $20,000 bond and has been ordered to have no contact with victim. Aikins' court arraignment is set for September 5th at 8:15 in Judge Ronald Taylor's court.
The Abbey Woods Living and Rehabiliation Center has been providing assistance to those impacted by the incident according to the director of nursing, Margaret Ritter.
I don't know why everyone can't just mind they're own business, that isn't even what happened. There is to much, "he said, she said" going around, when you have it all wrong. This is really nobody else's business, but the family involved!!!!!
