Rough ride, but renewed hope

Greetings from Coalville, UT.

This is since we last updated form Delta, UT.

We headed out and stayed in Eureka last night. We had made it to a town called Lynndyl where we asked about the terrain heading toward Eureka.

They claimed it was pretty flat and roley, but it turned into a very difficult 35 miles. It was kind of a gradual incline the whole way. We went about 8 miles an hour to Eureka.

It about spiritually cracked me. Good thing Danny was upbeat and kept me going. We finally made it to Eureka, but it took a lot longer than we through it would.

We stayed in a little hotel and made sure to eat plenty of Powerbars.

Today we headed out from Eureka and went along Lake Utah. We attempted to make it into Fairville, but had some difficulty with some heavy construction as well as a flat tire. We ended up turning around and going through Salt Lake because we knew that we weren't going to be able to make it through all the construction. We climbed out of the valley on I-80 and made it all the way to Coalville.

Today was pretty decent with some pretty good tail wind. Temperatures were nice and our spirits are much higher than they were yesterday.

You get those thoughts of quitting every once in awhile, but today was a much better day.

Tomorrow we're going to try to get up early and make it past Rock Springs. We're suppose to get some more good tail wind and the temperatures are suppose to warm up a little.

Now that we're getting into civilization there may not be as much to talk about, but most of the locals along the way have been very helpful and very interested in what we are doing here. It has really re-established my faith in most Americans.

For now, I will leave you with some quotes from Danny while traveling 88 miles through the desert.

"The only shade out here comes from a telephone pole."

"The only thing that changes out here are the numbers on the mile marker."
