Google releases 2008 Zeitgeist
by Ricky Gipson
Wednesday, December 10, 2008

Every year Google compiles all of its search queries to find out what its users searched for during that current year. It's a pretty interesting list that can provide a good look back at big events and memorable moments of 2008.

Google's methodology for compiling these results are explained on their website.

"In compiling the 2008 Year-End Zeitgeist, our search team studied the aggregation of billions of search queries people typed in to the Google search box. Except where noted, all of these search terms are most popular for 2008. All of the search queries we studied are anonymous — no personal information was used. "
