Before I begin this blog entry, I must first point out that I love Rock Band. It probably ranks as one of the best Christmas gifts I've ever received. I played it all during Christmas and still pick it up from time to time to rock out to my favorite songs.
I do believe, though, that Activision and Harmonix have now taken this too far. And this is coming from the guy who loves video games so much he has waited in numerous freezing cold lines, taking trips to LA just so he can see the latest and greatest in video games, talked his wife into playing video games and has even been known to cut a rug on Dance Dance Revolution.
When I first saw the smoke, light and stage set I was convinced that someone had photoshopped this. Sadly, I was proven wrong.
Apparently having a guitar, microphone and drum set does not give you the full experience required to feel like a true rock star. This can only be achieved through a light show and smoke.
I'm sure it will sell just as well as the Rock Band hit did over the holidays, but it will not be making an appearance in my household.
