St. Joe is one of twelve cities through the Show Me State chosen to participate in an elite point to point cycling stage race, it is the Tour of Missouri. St. Joe is the starting point for the week long event. More than 100 of the world's top cyclists are going to ride across Missouri's roads and terrain, enjoying the beautiful scenery along way. They will cycle from St. Joe to Kansas City, ultimately finishing in St. Louis. This marks the second tour or Missouri.
Last year's event attracted an estimated 400,000 roadside spectators and was watched live on the internet in 73 countries. This year's race is scheduled to be held September 8th through the 14th. For more information on the Tour of Missouri, visit their website.
