Don't trust

computers

I live in the senior citizens section, but a lot of people who don't live in the senior citizens section, we're a little upset over the fact that for anything, we have to do dot-dot-com to get in on anything. We'd like to have phone numbers on TV and in the papers and all. It'd be so much easier for us. Break-ins of computer accounts happen all the time. We don't trust computers.

A lost investment

I hope Anheuser-Busch shareholders who are contemplating giving their votes to InBev in hopes of increasing stock profits realize many consumers will stop using their products and they very well may lose all their investment.

Pay it yourself

Obama wants his supporters to pay off the $10 million loans Hillary Clinton borrowed from herself. She and Bill have millions of dollars. I think Bill gets $50,000 a speech. He could give more speeches. She makes a lot of money as senator of New York. People who borrow money have to pay it off, pay off their loans. I have borrowed money myself. They could pay off my loans. Money donated should be given to the homeless or poor people.

Up to you

"One thing missing," yes, you're right. Do the right thing. You don't have to go to church to do the right thing. You don't have to believe in God to do the right thing. People know right from wrong. You need to do the right thing.

Another tax

I thought I would see a day coming when they would try to get a tax passed for the old people. I think it's the biggest rip-off that I've ever heard of. It's like the rest of the taxes this city has come up with. And how anybody would vote for any tax in this day and age is out of their minds totally.

Editor's note: The proposal, if passed, would be a county tax, not a city tax.

There's three

In regard to the paper recycling bins, there's one at Benton High School, there's one in the parking lot at Faith Valley Church of God, and there's one at Spring Garden Middle School.

Missile defense

This morning I found a firework cannon called a 12-inch missile in my backyard. It is 4 inches in diameter and was imbedded 1¾ inches straight down into the ground. This traveled from over a block away and over my roof. The label says the missile travels at high speed and can travel a long distance. Misuse may result in injury or fire. Luckily, it missed my roof, not resulting in a hole or a fire. Please urge people to use some common sense with fireworks.

Another Tax.

Instead of adding another tax to assist the elderly use the same criteria that would be applied for handing out the revenue raised by a new tax and for those who qualify lower their personal & property taxes. I can already see the overhead involved in process this new tax would create. A good percentage of the revenue collected would be spent on labor, paperwork, etc... With the economy as it is today most are not in a position to take on add'l taxes and especially a permanent tax. And there are already programs out there to assist the elderly with simple household chores.

Relax Seniors, computers are not as hard as you think they are, just get someone to show you the bascis, and there's a world of GOOD information out there. You can entertain yourself for hours, take virtual tours of new homes or Log Cabins, look up old Big Band info, find out all about the medicines you have to take, and the list has no end. I think I will start a computer training course for seniors, it would help us BOTH!!
