A man from Faucett, Mo. sustained serious injuries at about 4 p.m. Tuesday in a boating accident at Smithville Lake.

Trent E. Dewey, 30, remains hospitalized in good condition at Liberty Hospital, a spokesman said.

According to a Missouri Water Patrol report, Mr. Dewey was operating a Marada Run About in the vicinity of Crows Creek Arm on the lake and shifted the engine into neutral. He jumped into the lake and swam to the rear of the boat. His clothes became entangled in the prop blades. Mr. Dewey sustained what the officer described as serious injuries.
