John and Amy Licata want to do more than business in St. Joseph.
They want to make a difference.
The Licatas are celebrating the grand opening of their business by awarding a $15,000 grant to a nonprofit organization.
“We’re going to find somebody locally who needs it and do a super job for them,” Mr. Licata said.
The couple moved to St. Joseph, Mrs. Licata’s hometown, several months ago and relocated their business Value Stream CRM from Overland Park, Kan.
As software consultants, they help small businesses manage constituent relationship programs. They have clients throughout the country and about half are nonprofits, Mr. Licata said. The couple started their own nonprofit group after Mrs. Licata survived cancer; helping other organizations is a passion for their business.
“Our focus here in St. Joseph initially will be looking for a single nonprofit where we can have an impact on their capacity,” Mr. Licata said.
Value Stream held a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the St. Joseph Area Chamber of Commerce at the office at 3801 Oakland Ave. Tuesday morning. The business will host a free seminar on July 23 to give organization leaders information about the grant opportunity. Salesforce.com offers an $11,000 grant that allows qualified nonprofits use of their software. Value Stream is offering $4,000 in consulting services to one organization based on need and potential community impact.
Mr. Licata said many local organizations may qualify for the grant from Salesforce.com and his company will help them apply.
For more information about the free seminar, which will be from 3 to 5 p.m. July 23 at Heartland Foundation’s emPowerU, visit www.sfdcstjoe.eventbrite.com, or call 676-2212.
