Celebrity arrests mean celebrity mugshots
Everyone loves a good (meaning really bad) shot of their favorite arrested celeb

News flash: Former TV star and comedian Andy Dick has been arrested. Again.

If you want to read all about his arrest, you can do it here The bare-bones fact are that he was drunk and assaulted a 17-year-old girl in the parking lot of a Buffalo Wild Wings.

But this blog isn’t to discuss Andy Dick’s wild and erratic behavior. I’m pretty sure nobody is really surprised by this. No, this blog is about the celebrity mugshot. Because the truth is, everyone loves a good (meaning really bad) celebrity mugshot. After wanting to know how salacious the crime was, the second most important piece of information is what the mugshot looks like.

I think a big part of it is because this is one of the few photos we see of celebrities that aren’t completely airbrushed to make them look perfect. There’s Misha Barton, the perfect O.C. hottie, with greasy hair and bags under her eyes. Nick Nolte with his bird’s-nest hairdo. And then there are shots like Andy’s, where the actors look nothing like themselves (at least not the way we’ve seen them).

I think everyone gets a certain thrill at seeing celebrities look, and act, less than perfect. “Haha, they’re no better than us!” we say when the mugshot comes out. It’s a bit of a validation thing.

If you want to get a glimpse at some celebrity mugshots, the LA Times has a good gallery here. And ignore Paris Hilton’s model-esque portrait of a mugshot. She was prepared ahead of time.
