The Emmy nominations were announced this morning, and a new category has been added to the awards lineup: Best reality show host.
Nominated are: Jeff Probst for “Survivor,” Howie Mandel for “Deal or No Deal,” Heidi Klum for “Project Runway,” Tom Bergeron for “Dancing with the Stars,” and Ryan Seacrest for “American Idol.”
I’m not sure how I feel about the addition of this category, since I’ve long believed that these people have about one of the easiest jobs ever.
Really, what’s so hard about giving people a set of instructions or introducing them on stage? OK, so there’s probably more to it than that, but it doesn’t seem like much.
However, it does seem like the Emmy nomination panel has picked hosts who are actually an integral part of the show, who actually are there for the entire thing. I hate the hosts who get paid thousands of dollars for showing up once every three scenes and saying a line or two.
So what do you think, do these hosts deserve to get the same recognition as real actors and actresses? I’m not convinced. And I really hope Ryan Seacrest doesn’t win. I’m so sick of that guy.
Haha. I agree. It doesn't seem they do much to deserve an Emmy category. The only guy I would vote for on that list is Howie, though I see Deal or No Deal as more of a game show than a reality show. I can't stand Heidi Klum, though I love Project Runway. She's so fake I want to kill myself.
