Parkway scalping
I’m calling about the really poor job of mowing that the city is doing along the Parkway system. I walk along the Parkway, and the section from Bartlett Park particularly down to Walnut Street is just disgraceful. Every time they mow it, it gets worse and worse. Literally half of the ground has no grass at all anymore because it’s full of tire ruts from the big tractors that they use to mow it. They don’t mow it at all. They pull up grass as well as the layer of topsoil, so there’s going to be erosion problems. I would invite anybody to go and look, particularly the head of the parks department, at what the Parkway looks like after it is mowed and how it looks right now. It’s absolutely terrible. They are destroying the Parkway system with their “mowing.”

Loyal Bushy
I have to disagree with the editorial letter writer David Ritch. I attended the same visit of candidate Kay Barnes, and she’s articulating what we really need here in the 6th District. What we don’t need is a continuation of loyal Bushy Sam Graves. He needs to leave office at the same time George Bush does.

Nobody likes you, either
Just a short comment on the “Outrage is there” call. The Michael Reagan column must have really upset him. But is he aware that the Democratic-controlled Congress has an approval rating of less than half of the president?

Promote St. Joe
I wonder who is in charge of getting the youth world series held in St. Joe. It was held in Kansas City, Kan., and what a spectacular showing occurred. There were 143 teams from all over, and you can imagine what it does for the economy, restaurants and motels, etc. I don’t understand why St. Joe does not put one on. My only reason calling this in is maybe it would open some eyes. But I think we have some lazy people who don’t want to step forward and help out the economy and keep something in our town to promote St. Joe more.

One of a kind
I would like to know why people make a right-hand turn in the driveway. You have to get clear over in the left-hand side of the road to make a turn and then they don’t use turn signals. And then when you almost hit them or they almost hit you, they act like it’s your fault. I think I’m the only decent driver out there.

Change?
For a politician to propose change without explaining that change is basically meaningless. For us in this country to go to communism, that would be change, or Nazism, that would be change. So we need to really listen to our politicians and find out what they’re truly proposing.
to "Change",
This is the way he gets all of the sheep to follow him. He dangles "change" out in front of them and since he knows they'll never get it, he doesn't have to tell them what it actually is. But, as long as they keep following this "carrot" he can keep making promises without ever having to produce anything of substance. This is because these people who cannot think for themselves will continue to eat it up, believing they'll actually get it someday.
Some people simply cannot see the difference between flash and substance. They cannot get past the hype Obama is creating to realize that he has nothing of real substance to offer. Anyone who looks at his record as a Senator would see he has done pretty much nothing.
Besides, this hypocrite wants to lead the United Statesof America but won't even do something as simple (and important) as saying the Pledge of Allegience to this country!
al·le·giance /əˈlidʒəns/ [uh-lee-juhns] -noun
1. the loyalty of a citizen to his or her government or of a subject to his or her sovereign.
I have to wonder where his allegiance really lies.
Posted by gr8fan on July 20, 2008 at 7:42 a.m. (Suggest removal)I find it amusing that a candidate that is working on the "change" platform has voted 97% of the time along party lines. What kind of change is that? Sounds like a follower, not a leader. I'm sure he will continue to follow along the liberal regime that will make it all better for the citizens of the USA. Tax, tax, tax the people!
