Lack of pollination is the concern of many area farmers as bee colonies decline.

Lack of pollination is the concern of many area farmers as bee colonies decline.

One insect is stirring up quite a *buzz* with local farmers.

All around the world, thousands of bees are dying. A local horticulturist says it is called "Colony Collapse Disorder." Some of the causes may include pesticides, viral diseases, or even the stress commercial bees undergo from being hauled from place to place across the country. While that may not seem important. the disappearance of bees is hitting home to local farmers.

Many crops rely heavily on the pollination that bees provide. Without it, many crops grow disfigured or may not grow at all. One local farmer says he's noticed the decline for years and it's starting to affect *his* business.

Farmers we spoke with at the farmer's market today say there are no longer beekeepers in the area. many are now relying on bumblebees to keep their crops pollinated
