Community Development can improve low-income homes
by Angela Smith
Wednesday, June 18, 2008

If you have got a leaky roof or drafty windows and an empty pocket, city housing officials want to help. Missouri Housing and Development acquired two separate grants totaling more than $200,000 dollars to help fix low-income homes in St. Joseph.

They are currently taking applications for ten homes that could receive up to $20,000 dollars per home for improvements. But that is only if you meet the low income guidelines and have lived in your home for at least six months. Community Development Manager Gerald McCush said the goal of the program is to give low income families a better quality of life. If you would like to apply for the grant, contact Gerald at 271-4609. There is no deadline set to apply.
