St. Joseph Transit asks everyone to dump the pump Thursday. City buses nationwide are offering free rides for anyone, anytime, anywhere for Thursday only. It is part of "Dump the Pump Day," aimed at reducing traffic congestion, saving gas and reducing greenhouse gases.

St. Joe transit will also offer discounts on July passes and ticket books just for Thursday. Kurt Janicek of St. Joe Transit said ridership has risen by double digits each year for the past three years. He said if Thursday they can just stop a few more people from driving, it could greatly benefit the environment.

The buses will run on all routes from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday. If you need curbside pickup, Janicek asks you to call prior for a reservation at 233-6700.
