Power hungry
Leave it to the Democrats to cry about offshore drilling. They would rather feed terrorist countries billions of dollars for oil. Why not use our resources? Of course Democrats in Washington lack common sense on the subject of offshore drilling. The environmentalists are power hungry and would rather see the country go broke. Both them and the Democrats should pull their heads out of the sand. Hopefully, they will wake up before it’s too late.
Not faking it
This is in response to actually two comments made. The first, the other day somebody called and talked about Tiger Woods that he was faking it. Well, if they would read the news and pay attention a little bit more, he has a torn knee ligament in one knee and a double stress fracture in another leg. I don’t think he’s faking it. And in today’s bit, somebody said that the Democratic Congress has been in power for two years and hasn’t been able to do anything. But again it’s simple politics in that until we have a president who will stop vetoing everything that the Democratic Congress sends through — when that stops things will happen.
Thanks, but no thanks
As I feel sorry for the city about takers of their new homes, I have the simple answer to their question. If you get on Yahoo and get on mortgage calculator you can see that in no way can two people making $33,400, which is the qualification, can afford a $90,000 home. The house payment would be way too much with living expenses and a car payment and just the day-to-day expenses of a two-adult home. You’d have to make $54,000 a year to be able to afford a $90,000 house. So I’m sure we would all appreciate that the city is trying to better our community and make nice homes, but the people they are designed for cannot afford them. So I would say either someone is going to have to take a reduction in price or we need to build the next one of the least expensive materials available.
Seeing peace
I’m calling about the person “Be nice” in “It’s your call” Thursday. I would so like to meet that person. I am on the same wavelength as they are, it’s just so nice that somebody would actually like to see peace.
Coming from an oil man
This is about the article in today’s paper about Bush wanting to drill offshore in Alaska. You can tell it’s an oil man trying to make that decision. There is no need for drilling in Alaska. We have oil wells all across this country that are capped off and doing nothing. Why aren’t we using the oil that we already have as opposed to trying to find more? As I said, it’s an oil man who is making all the decisions and that’s the problem with our gas prices today.
There can be several reasons why an existing oil well might be capped. Probably the most prevalent reason is that the “easy” oil is gone, leaving the oil that has to be extracted from shale and/or other things. This naturally drives up the cost of bringing that oil to market.
