Sylvia says: Curious Cookies are intriguingly good — and good for you

Cookies and good for you are words you never used to use in the same sentence. Try it and you would have to take out the word “yummy.” But since I love cookies, I am always willing to give anything considered healthful a try. And who wouldn’t be intrigued by something called Curious Cookies.

Curious Cookies has a retail bakery in New Jersey, but does most of its business online at curiouscookie.com. They say all the ingredients are natural and/or organic, with no preservatives and no hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils. The official “Curious Cookie” is one of their premium gourmet cookies. It’s a combination of Bavarian chocolate mixed with tart cherry in all-natural cherry infused dough. But they also have ginger cranberry, lemo’cho cookie (a combination of sweet lemon peel and Bavarian white chocolate) chocolate chip, white chocolate and macadamia nut, oatmeal raisin, and sugar ‘n spice (snickerdoodle). Their newest line are called the Muffin Top gourmet cookies, containing “natural Midwestern dried fruits combined with all-natural fruit extracts to provide a vibrant fruit based cookie.” They also have a line of gluten-free, sugar-free and low-carbohydrate cookies.

Bottom Line: I would like to say I was able to taste all of the cookies, but they would amazingly disappear whenever anybody would stop by. The ones I did try were very moist, dense and flavorful. They come individually wrapped — I imagine to keep them fresh without preservatives. The surprising thing is that one cookie is very satisfying, perhaps because they are made with real food. You can buy them in a six pack, by the dozen, in a tin, case or basket. And they have an Easter tin or basket that would make, yes, a yummy gift for a college student, military person or anyone who likes cookies that are tasty and good for you. Prices range from $14.95 for a six pack (shipping included) to $33.95 for a tin that holds approximately 20 large cookies. Curious Cookies may be ordered online at www.curiouscookie.com, by phone at (877) YUMMY-2-U or in Marshalls and TJ Maxx stores across the country.
