‘Stories in the Stitches’ at Wyeth-Tootle
St. Joseph Museums, Inc., presents “Stories in the Stitches,” a temporary exhibition of quilts by members of the Piece Corps Quilters Guild of St. Joseph.
The exhibition will be held in honor of Women’s History Month and will open on Saturday, March 8, at the Wyeth-Tootle Mansion, 11th and Charles.
The “Stories in the Stitches” exhibition will feature antique quilts that represent the history of quilting. The exhibit also will showcase modern variations on traditional designs as well as contemporary designs, small and large quilting projects, quilted fabric dolls, antique sewing machines and other antiques items related to quilting.
The exhibition will run through Saturday, April 12, during regular business hours. Admission is $3 for adults, $1.50 for students and free for museum members. For more information, call 232-8471.
Jazz festival to feature sax legend Christlieb
Northwest Missouri State University’s Department of Music and the Upsilon Chi chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, an honorary music society, will host the annual Northwest Jazz Festival Saturday, March 8, on the university campus.
Highlights will include a noon performance by the Northwest Jazz Ensemble in Charles Johnson Theater and a 5 p.m. concert in the Performing Arts Center by the Boulevard Big Band of Kansas City featuring well-known tenor saxophonist Pete Christlieb. Both shows are free and open to the public.
The Northwest Jazz Festival also will feature 18 high school and middle school jazz ensembles and combos. These groups will perform in Charles Johnson Theater and the Performing Arts Center between 8:45 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Troy High musical on stage in March
“Meet Me in St. Louis” will debut as a musical on the Troy High School stage March 13 through 15, with a dinner held in conjunction with the final performance. Reservations for the dinner are due by March 10.
Performances will begin with a matinee at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 13, followed by an evening performance at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 14, The final show will be Saturday, March 15, with seating for the dinner beginning at 6 p.m. and serving at 6:30 p.m. The show will follow at 7:30 p.m.
Dinner tickets, which include the performance, are $10 each. Reservations may be made by contacting a cast member or calling the school at (785) 985-3533. This year, the main dish will be pork loin roast with vegetables and bread, accompanied by salad and dessert bars. Tickets for the performance alone for any of the three shows are $3 for adults and $2 for students.
Mid-Buchanan presents ‘Little Women’
Mid-Buchanan High School brings Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel to life in its production of “Little Women” at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 15, and 3 p.m Sunday, March 16, in the auditorium of Mid-Buchanan High School in Faucett, Mo.

Saint Mary professor to sing with symphony
University of Saint Mary music professor Dr. William Krusemark will be guest bass soloist with the Saint Joseph Symphony in its “Sounds of Spring” concert on at 8 p.m., Saturday, March 29, at the Missouri Theater.
Krusemark will sing the bass solo role in Bach’s Easter Oratorio and will be joined by soprano Megan King, Mezzo-soprano Debra Scroggins Sowerwine, tenor David Adams and the St. Joseph Chamber Choir/MWSU Chamber Singers.

American Heartland Theatre presents ‘I Love You Because’
The American Heartland Theatre in Kansas City will present ‘I Love You Because’ tonight through Sunday, April 20.
Set in New York City, this musical comedy follows Austin Bennet, a young greeting card writer whose life is turned upside down when he finds his girlfriend with another man. Forced back out into the New York dating scene, Austin meets Marcy, whose spontaneity is matched only by her ability to drive him insane.
