Faith United ready for F.U.N.

Faith United Church, 3025 Karnes Road, will have its monthly F.U.N. (Family Unity Night) at 6 p.m. May 14 in its fellowship hall.

The evening will begin with a “family table” meal followed by a presentation on the Holy Land by Carole McClellan. Following the presentation, those in attendance will divide into study groups for ages kindergarten through adult. Nursery and transportation will be provided. Wesley United Methodist to host hog roast

Wesley United Methodist Church at the intersection of Ajax Road and Pear Street will host a hog roast from 4:30 to 7 p.m. May 17.

Free-will donations will be accepted. For more information, call the church at 279-7808.

Zion United Church to honor confirmation class

Zion United Church of Christ at Ninth and Faraon streets will include the rite of confirmation it its 10:30 a.m. worship service May 11.

This class of boys has been meeting during the winter and spring months under the leadership of Margaret Goodman, a student at St. Paul School of Theology in Kansas City.

The day will begin with a Mother’s Day breakfast at 9 a.m., and a reception honoring the confirmands will follow the worship service. Zion also will receive its Church World Service blanket offering that morning.

Church of God Seventh Day to celebrate building’s 50 years

The Church of God Seventh Day, 1124 N. 18th St., will celebrate 50 years since the completion of its building with revival services following the theme “The Glory of God” led by its former pastor, the Rev. Dale Lawson.

The services will take place at 7 p.m. May 15 and 16 and at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. May 17, with lunch served at noon.

Leader to be authorized for Sudanese worship ministry

Dr. Gerald Mansholt, bishop of the Central States Synod of the Evangelical Church in America, will authorize Daniel Mapur as worship leader for the Sudanese worship ministry at First Lutheran Church, 302 S. 10th St., at 1 p.m. May 11.

The public is invited to the service of celebration and to the Sudanese meal that will follow the worship service. For more information, call 232-8378.
