Law enforcement officers conducted an extensive search for two people on the city’s South Side Thursday morning.
According St. Joseph police sergeant Kevin Cummings, police responded to a domestic violence and possible suicide call at a residence at 4716 Ajax Road some time before 8:30 a.m. Officers began searching for a man and woman and believed the man was carrying a rifle. Police later found the rifle abandoned close to the residence.

Although no special tactical units were deployed for the search, number St. Joseph police officers and Buchanan County Sheriff’s deputies were involved in the incident.
Police are expected to release more details later today.
