St. Joseph artist Jessica Lederer has her hands in a few mediums, including drawing, photography and graphic design. But in her paintings, Lederer likes particular elements. She combines colored pencils with linseed oil on Reeves paper to create smoothness. She likes working with warm colors (red in particular) and painting flowers of any kind. She focuses on a single flower in her paintings for aesthetic reasons. “The simplicity can show more beauty — the simple nature — than, I think, a bunch of chaos,” she says. Jessica Lederer will have an art showing at Foster’s from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 4. To see more of her work, go to www.
