
St. Joseph is only a demolition away from getting its IHOP.
A sign for the International House of Pancakes popped up sometime last week yet the structure perched on the hillside doesn’t look like the usual blue and white eatery. That’s because it’s not.
There are a few homes still standing on that particular stretch of the North Belt Highway. City officials said they’ve approved the company’s plans and are awaiting a copy of the land disturbance permit.
Once everything is lined up, crews should begin tearing down the house at 3804 N. Belt Highway, the site between the Missouri Department of Transportation and Fritz’s Car Wash.
IHOP is based in California and more than 99 percent of the restaurants are franchisee owned. The restaurants are open throughout the day and evening hours and offer breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are 1,361 locations.
