An incumbent in a local Missouri House of Representatives race will address area Republicans Thursday.
Rep. Dr. Rob Schaaf, R-St. Joseph, and other candidates in area races are set to speak at the last Northwest Missouri Republican Club meeting before the November election.
The meeting’s social period begins at 6 p.m. Thursday at Bandana’s Bar-B-Q, located at 4225 Frederick Ave. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m.
Dr. Schaaf in 2002 was elected to represent Missouri’s 28th House District, which covers parts of Andrew and Buchanan counties. A St. Joseph Democrat, Mark Sheehan, is challenging him.
The race between the two is heating up. Missouri Democratic Secretary of State Robin Carnahan was in town last week talking up Mr. Sheehan at a soup kitchen rally, while Dr. Schaaf said he used last week to launch his TV political ad campaign.
