Toshiba may have lost to Sony in the HD DVD vs. Blu-ray battle, but this DVD player may give a bit more shelf-life to ol’ fashioned DVDs. The Toshiba XDE-500 actually lets people tweek the sharpness, contrast and color and other DVD characteristics to get their discs near HD-quality for HDTVs.
