OMAHA, Neb. -- This may start out like a bad joke, but this actually happened on Saturday in the press box in the moments before Nebraska-Omaha and Northwest Missouri State opened their MIAA clash at Omaha's Caniglia Field:
You see, there were these three NFL scouts standing around in the press box before the start of the game. One was a Washington Redskins scout, one was a Indianapolis Colts scout and the third was a Kansas City Chiefs scout.
“Are you getting along OK?” one Nebraska-Omaha staffer asked as Chiefs scout Terry Delp stood silently, staring down blankly at the still-empty field.
“No,” Delp said flatly, leading to a long, uncomfortable silence before he explained himself. “Colts and Chiefs never get along.”
This match-up between the No. 5 and No. 8 teams in the nation has drawn a lot of attention, including from the NFL, which no doubt has designs on Omaha quarterback Zach Miller and whoever emerges from Northwest in this post-Xavier Omon world.
