MoDOT to repair local highways
by St. Joseph News-Press
Sunday, September 28, 2008

The Missouri Department of Transportation will be doing asphalt patching Monday on the eastbound lanes of the U.S. Highway 36 bridge in St. Joseph.

The work will occur on the bridge between Interstate 229 and 10th Street. The southbound I-229 off-ramp to eastbound U.S. Highway 36 will close from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The eastbound lanes of Highway 36 will narrow to one lane.

Signs and arrow boards will be placed for motorists.

Crews Monday and Tuesday also will make concrete repairs in various locations on the eastbound lanes of Highway 36 between Missouri Route C in Buchanan County and Interstate 35 in Clinton County.

The highway will narrow to one lane in certain locations. Motorists should be aware of multiple work zones.

Elsewhere in the region, MoDOT or its contractors will:

Do a chip seal on U.S. Highway 69 from the Iowa state line south to the 69 Spur at Bethany, Mo. The project should take one week to complete. Crews will work first on the southbound lane from the state line and then complete work on the northbound lane. The road will narrow to one lane, with flaggers and a pilot car directing traffic. Fresh oil will be present.

Make bridge deck repairs Monday on the Rock Creek Bridge in Rock Port, Mo., east of the junction of Missouri Highway 111 and U.S. Highway 136.

Patch asphalt on Interstate 29 in Holt County Monday. Herzog Contracting will work on the northbound and southbound lanes between the 84-mile marker and the 99-mile marker. Patching will be done on the bridge ends in this area. Work also will be done in the northbound lane at the 62-mile marker in Andrew County on Wednesday.

Chip seal several routes in Atchison County Monday. The routes will be done in the following sequence: B, A, BB, U, and TT. Drivers should expect minor delays.

Repair pavement on Missouri Highway 116 between Polo, Mo., and Missouri Route D Tuesday. The project is scheduled for three days.

Repair concrete at the 58-mile marker of the northbound lanes of I-29 in Andrew County Monday into early Tuesday. The interstate will narrow to one lane. Crews will make repairs at the 63-mile marker in the northbound lanes Tuesday. One lane at this location will be closed overnight.

Motorists are urged to reduce speed and drive with caution in the work areas.
