Andrew & Buchanan County Voters Vote Tuesday
by Rachel Hoffman
Monday, April 6, 2009

The training is complete for poll workers and Tuesday area voters head to the polls.

The St Joseph School District's levy and bond issues are the hot topics of tomorrow's election in St. Joseph. In Andrew County, voters will choose a new mayor.

St. Joseph voters will also be asked to vote on the Saint Joseph School District's 63-cent levy that funds teacher salaries and school maintenance.and a 45 million dollar bond to help build two new elementary schools.

These issues have met with some opposition from members of the group "Citizens For Accountable Administrators." The group is against the removal of the sunset clause from the current levy and also the new bond, which will go to purchase property for a future Southside school and also build on to Skaith School and construct two new elementary schools.

Buchanan County Clerk, Pat Conway, expects a fairly decent turnout of voters tomorrow in Buchanan County. In Andrew County, voters will choose between Kenny Carter and Billy Kretzer for mayor.

You will hear updated results all evening long on St. Joe Now Channel 3 beginning shortly after 7pm.
