2 of Italy’s top cyclists will compete in tour
Two of Italy’s top cyclists will participate in next month’s Tour of Missouri.
Franco Pellizotti, the King of the Mountain jersey winner at this year’s Tour de France and third-place overall finisher in the Tour of Italy, will be joined by Liquigas teammate Francesco Chicchi.
Mr. Chicchi was a stage winner at last year’s Tour of Missouri.
Besides Mr. Pellizotti and Mr. Chicchi, the following names were released for the Liquigas squad: Jacopo Guarnieri, a stage winner at this year’s Tour of Poland; Claudio Corioni; former Italian Junior national-champion Daniel Oss; and Brian Vandborg, a stage winner at the 2005 Tour de Georgia.
The Tour of Missouri will begin in St. Louis Sept. 7 and rolls through St. Joseph on Sept. 12.
