State website aims to educate, motivate
by St. Joe Now
Wednesday, August 26, 2009

State officials unveiled a new website Wednesday they hope will help Missourians understand the importance of the 2010 census.

The Missouri Complete Count Committee was formed earlier this year at the order of Governor Jay Nixon. It's made up of community leaders from all over the state. Their purpose is to educate and motivate Missourians to participate in the 2010 census process.

There are concerns with this census about Missouri being undercounted, because the state could lose a congressional seat if that happens.

St Joseph is represented on the Complete Count Committee by county commissioner R-T Turner, and by United Way Executive Director, Brenda Shields.
