Happy Birthday and Congrats!
by Gretchen Mollenhour
Monday, February 16, 2009

Just in time for president's day. C-Span releases the results of its second historians survey of presidential leadership.

65 presidential historians ranked 42 former presidents of the united states on ten attributes of leadership, such as "public persuasion," crisis leadership", and "international relations."

Historians used a 1-10 scale. With 1 being "not effective" to 10--"very effective."

Abraham Lincoln makes the top of the list just as the nation celebrates his 200th birthday.

George Washington placed second, followed by Franklin D. Roosevelt, Theodore Roosevelt and Missouri's Harry Truman.

Among other presidents, Ronald Reagan was ranked 10th, Bill Clinton 15th, and George H.W. Bush 18th. George W. Bush received an overall ranking of 36.

C-Span's first such survey was released back in 2000. To see the complete survey, Click Here
