Several new developments have popped up around town in the new year.
Quiznos is under construction with its second location in St. Joseph. According to the building's sign, Prolific Technologies also will have a store on the South Belt Highway near Greg's Appliance Center.
Sandwich shop owner Trevor Dryden opened his first Quiznos restaurant in Platte City, Mo., followed by a location in the Pony Express Plaza in 2008. Mr. Dryden purchased four franchise locations in Missouri.
Chick-fil-A should be open by mid-July, according to Jerry Johnston, a company spokesperson. The southern chicken eatery submitted plans last year to build a free-standing location at 5303 N. Belt Highway, a prime location at the entrance to the Shoppes at North Village just north of Chili's Grill & Bar. Construction has not yet begun.
According to city records, the property owner is listed as Hand Cut Steaks, the parent company of Colton's Steak House. The steak house was initially going to locate at the Shoppes but never broke ground on the project.
East Hills Shopping Center had another casualty. The Kids' Foot Locker has closed its doors. It is unclear when the store was emptied out. Company officials could not be reached for comment. There still is a Foot Locker and a Women's Foot Locker in the shopping center.

How about if we make East Hills into a huge school? Puts it out of its misery and solves the old school problem!

Wow, I wish I could run my business the way the buses are set up to run with only a small portion of my operating budget based on the revenues my company creates. Seriously people, when are we going to realize that we cannot pour money into something that does not even come within view of paying for itself??
