DNA, please
With all this hype about Michael Jackson, I'd like to see a DNA report. I don't think that he fathered any of these children. I would really like to know the truth.
*******
Nice job
Well, they counted and recounted and recounted until the Democrats declared Al Franken the winner of the Senate race in Minnesota. Now we are no longer a two-party system. We are completely run by the Democrats. And the Republicans cannot even filibuster. The good thing is that they now cannot blame the Republicans for anything. The bad is that I am financially ruined. Good job, Democrats. Now that you're destroying all the working people, who is going to pay for all this debt you've racked up?
*******
Hunks
To all the women who read Josephine magazine and this month's "Hunks" issue, I ask you one question: Would it bother you to find your husband, boyfriend or whatever looking at an insert of hot women? I think most of the women would say yes. Really, I think a man needs to start a monthly insert of St. Joe's Finest. Oh, don't worry, there will be a picture of a good-looking man on the cover, but it will be filled with half-naked women.
*******
Hail to the chief
What's the big deal about South Carolina's governor, Mark Sanford? What he has done is no different than what Bill Clinton has done his whole life. Clinton was even doing it in the White House with Hillary and the Democratic Party's knowledge. I think Sanford would make a great president.
*******
Too selfish
I'm from Atlanta, Ga. I just wanted to say how upset I am about coming here. My mother lives here and I have to come here to visit. St. Joe is one of the worst cities I've ever been to. People only care about themselves here. Driving around town, I have been cut off more times than downtown Atlanta traffic. At Wal-Mart, people put their shopping carts right next to their cars. That stuff doesn't happen down South.
*******
Still thinking
This is to "Think again." I did think again and, yes, Ronald Reagan was a great president. He brought the country together and won every state but Massachusetts in 1984. As for Social Security, you can still retire early at age 62, but one month has been added each year to 65 to reach age 67 in the future. But that started after Ronald Reagan.

Too selfish,
Been to your city many times; just a few observations:
Peachtree Street has no beginning and no ending. Peachtree Street is not to be confused with Peachtree Circle, Peachtree Place, Peachtree Lane, Peachtree Road, Peachtree Parkway, Peachtree Run, Peachtree Trace, Peachtree Ave., Peachtree Commons, Peachtree Battle, Peachtree Corners, New Peachtree, Old Peachtree, or Peachtree Industrial Boulevard. BTW, most directions start with "Go down Peachtree" and usually include the phrase ":when you see the Waffle House:"
One end of Hartfield Intl Airport is about 25 miles from the main concourse. I'm convinced when I die and head to Heaven they gonna route me thru Hartfield. Don't even get me started about MARTA.
The falling of one rain drop causes all drivers to immediately forget all traffic rules. If a single snowflake falls, the city is paralyzed for three days and the "blizzard" is on all the channels as a news flash every 15 minutes for a month.
It is always Smog Alert Day.
Morning rush hour goes from 630 to 1030. Evening rush hours is from 1530 to 1930. Construction crews aren't doing their job unless all but one lane is closed during both rush hours.
NASCAR is king and every driver on I-285 thinks he is Cale Yarborough.
I could go on awhile but us folks in the Midwest don't hold with piling on. Thanks for visiting Saint Joseph!! Leave your money and go home.

Never mind.....I can tell, just from your original post, that logic would be lost on you!!!
Too selfish:
I LIVED in the South, and I can tell you that people are MUCH friendlier here, in my experience, than they were there!! As for the drivers....I've seen some pretty stupid drivers around here....and their license plates aren't always from Missouri. Some are from South Dakota, some from Iowa, some from Nebraska...and I had one on a car that cut me off in traffic the other day. It had a peach on it.....

atlanta used to be a great city. now it is an unwieldy giant, burdened with countless warrens of subdivisions, traffic, franchise restaurants, and none of the southern charm and identity which she formerly possessed. it is my least favorite southern city.

Have to agree about Atlanta being less than desirable. Whether I'm there on business or just changing planes at the airport, I can't wait to leave.
The only redeeming things I have seen there are Fogo de Chao (we have one here in KC now), and Krystal Hamburgers (similar to White Castle) in the airport.

Too Selfish
As a person who is not from here originally and lived in several places not near here I complain about this city a lot. But one thing I do know with all my years living here is personally I have not found a nicer group of people on a whole. Yes, they are not courteous drivers on a whole but that is more of a sign of not having to drive in daily congestion of a big city then some example of a deep seeded character flaw.
Hail to the Chief
Most Democrats are not morally outraged when they see a politician from any party succumb to human failings. Most Democrats just enjoy seeing the blatant hypocrisy and love to point out the contradictions. The Republican party for years wraps ties itself to being the party of God and moral superiority and to vote for them because of it and then as soon as one of theirs shows low character it is just excused off as no big deal.
It is this hypocrisy that drives most crazy and why they are not in power anymore as they have become a party of do as we say and not as we do.

What I see are politicians on both sides of the aisle doing it (both having the affairs AND pointing accusatory fingers). The outrage SHOULD be that Americans are too smart to fall for the "they're worse than we are" crap coming from both parties when they highlight the failings of the other. Personally, I'm sick to DEATH of hearing how the Republicans deserve what they're getting because they tout themselves as being the "religious right". What are Democrats....atheistic pagans??

Speaking of airports.....why didn't we hear anything about Michelle Obama's foray from Paris to London...on her very own 757, accompanied by a full army of secret service and their very own armoured SUVs, transported from the US. She and the girls spent a couple days touring London.
I recall a statement....to CEOs...."you can't get corporate jets, take a trip to Las Vegas or go down to the superbowl on the taxpayer's dime"....I believe it was Michelle's husband who made that comment
London was literally shut down so America's "Royal Family" could go where they chose for fish and chips in Mayfair.
Obama was not discouraged by the outrage expressed when he spent $300,000 for a photo of the Statute of Liberty, or
$60,000 for a night out on the town......he now makes it clear that he is the almighty and money is no object, so long as it's taxpayer's money.
This was a multi-million dollar excursion.....and it is

The difference between the Mark Sandford affair and the Bill Clinton affair or--in a larger sense--democratic and republican affairs...are you serious?
The difference is that the Republicans have labeled themselves the party of God. They run on traditional values, lecture us on the sanctity of marriage, and just generally try to paint themselves as holier-than-thou. Then they try to get away with the stuff they're telling everyone else is unacceptable.
Then there's the hypocrisy, which is what most people really have a problem with. Ensign was one of the loudest voices against Clinton when that happened, and when Craig got into his airport trouble, he said he hoped that if he were ever placed in a similar situation he hoped he would have the decency to resign. Yet when he had an affair and engaged in activitied that are to me worse--stuff involving his obvious conflicts of interest and misuse of donations, he not only didn't follow his own advise but continued to act like his sh*t doesn't stink. Mark Sandford, also, ran on a platform of family values and he also misued public funds.
The hypocrisy and the other issues, especially using money they shouldn't have used to further their affairs is to me much worse than actually having the affairs. It's just more examples of the do as I say not as I do politics that cost the Republicans seriously needed credibility.
And, finally, to the person who is lamenting the state of affairs because of the Democratic majorities in Congress, what you forgot to mention is the fact that these people have been ELECTED because what the Republicans did while they were elected wasn't working. And they were elected to make the changes they're trying to make because that's what the majority wanted after eight years of Bush.

While I do NOT condone these guy's activities, I must say they are demonstrating they are human, and prone to human frailties and faults, just like anyone else. While they ARE being hypocritical, and not behaving like the elected officials we put in office, it's equally wrong for Democrats to shrug at THEIR indiscretions and say "we don't run on a religious/family values platform"....and act like nothing's wrong.
I'd say again....let him/her who is without fault cast the first stone.....

You might note the Republicans you cited are guilty of moral missteps and should answer to their family and their God.
Most of the Democrats are guilty of felony crimes and should have gone to jail under our existing laws. The President and the Attorney General opted to not perform their sworn duties and pursue those crimes and let them off apparently because they are Democrats.
Now, in my mind that is THE difference.
Hypocisy indeed.
Are you next going to tell us Tim Geitner, Chris Dodd, Wm Jefferson, Tommy Dashel, Barney Frank and the others should all be blamed on Bush.

But more important, you have to ask yourself: What does this have to do with this case? Nothing. Ladies and gentlemen, it has nothing to do with this case! It does not make sense! Look at me. I'm a lawyer defending a major record company, and I'm talkin' about Chewbacca! Does that make sense? Ladies and gentlemen, I am not making any sense! None of this makes sense! And so you have to remember, when you're in that jury room deliberatin' and conjugatin' the Emancipation Proclamation, does it make sense? No! Ladies and gentlemen of this supposed jury, it does not make sense! If Chewbacca lives on Endor, you must acquit! The defense rests.

teacherlady says...
Ah, daaiwt, the infamous Chewbacca Defense! I bow before your invincible logic!
Ibc, unless you were the governor of a state or held a similar position of power, your argument simply isn't valid. Yes, pops, governors can take vacations, but not unannounced vacations that leave their state in an awful predicament. What would have happened if Sandford had been needed? Sandford disappeared for days, he left the country, and didn't tell his staff or the lieutenant governor. That is irresponsible to the nth degree and is, in my opinion, unacceptable.
As I tried to make clear in my earlier posting, while I don't condone extramariital affairs, my real issue is with the hypocrisy. Yes, we liberals have our scandals. But, last time I checked, we weren't screaming holier-than-thou to anyone who would listen. That's what makes affairs and the like so much jucier when a conservative does it, and that's why it does more damage to a Republican than a Democrat.
I think the problem is that many social conservatives want to pigeonhole themselves into a very narrow view of what is "pure and decent" in our society. Personally, I'd rather just accept law-biding, tax-paying citizens instead of stressing myself out over how they choose to live their lives.
In this way the Republican Party has bent and twisted themselves into an almost hilarious contradiction, as I pointed out in my satire posting of June 7. Here are few more examples:
-We don't like "big government" but we'd like to make an amendment to the constitution telling you who you're allowed to marry.
-We're all for "personal freedom" but we also believe in finding out which library books you've read, just in case.
-We're for fiscal responsibility, but we let that Bush guy run us into the ground for eight years and didn't really fight him. Not to mention the previous Bush...
-We won't leave any child behind, but we'll cut educational and social programs that can help them succeed.
-We'll make speeches praising the troops but won't say a word about their pay and benefits being cut. We'll say a vote against a war spending bill is unamerican, unless it's under President Obama, then we'll find an excuse not to vote for it.
-We're all about family, but if you lose your job and your health insurance, you're on your own.
No wonder your party is falling apart! People have left in droves because they are tired of the hypocrisy and the direction the country was heading under your leadership. If you actually want to run for office on the basis of fiscal sanity and mainstream values, more power to you; you might have a shot. As it stands, you could be in for a long drought.

As for leaving the country...I don't know where I fall on that one. First of all....did he go to Argentina at the taxpayer expense? Then he needs to reimburse the taxpayers for the expense....and so should President Obama. If your only reason for wanting this guy to leave office is that he had an affair....I think you need to re-think your logic a bit.

Apple...simple answer....YES. I think he should fold his tent. Frankly, I'm not sure we have the whole picture at this point, but his poor judgment is almost as bad as Clinton lying...."I did not have sex with that women"...
I don't expect Presidents of the United States to stand on national TV and lie.
Neither Sanford or Clinton committed a felony.....Geitner did. And, I believe further investigatin and information on the table would show that Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, as well as William Jefferson did in fact commit crimes that normally result in prison terms.
Sanford did not violate a standing statute. The Democrats I cited did. Period.
And, if you want to talk about expenses....lets examine what was spent on Michelle Obama's trip to London. Barack had Air Force One....but they had to have a 757 seperate and apart, for Michelle and the girls. They also had a cargo plane to haul armoured SUVs and who knows how the small army of secret service got there. Now that two day foray was a million bucks plus. Whose going to reimburse it. He did not break the law.....as Geitner, Dodd, Jefferson, Frank, etc. all did. Why are none of them being asked to stand trial. Why was Geitner "excused" from a felony offense. Why is Jefferson, after 4 years, still not before the bar of justice.
With respect to Michelle, she's allowed....give me a break. The point is that Obama is spending money like a drunken sailor on personal stuff....that picture op used $300,000 in gas...so the total cost considerably more. His NY evening on the town cost a couple hundred thousand at least, and Michelle's London soray is another million. At this rate he will spend 20 million bucks in a years time ENOUGH ALREADY.

The article in the WSJ refers to his previous trips to see his mistress when he was also on state business=== yet Sanford recently brought $3,300 to reimburse for his lodging, meals and airfare on previous trips. He must have been feeling some sort of guilt that maybe those trips on "state business" were just a farce to see his mistress.
I do feel truly sorry for his wife... she has forgiven a man who claims another woman is his soul mate but he is trying to fall back in love with her??? He has said he has crossed the line with other women over the years! What in the heck is wrong with her???? He even asked her permission to go see his mistress!!! And even though she said no, he still went!!! Was he truly expecting her to grant him permission? Has he browbeat her enough to make her think that he is the only man that can ever love her? Has he taken all her self-esteem away over the years that she can't see what a bright, attractive woman she is?
I am all for trying to save a marriage but there gets to be a point where there just isn't any saving to do! Instead of going to counseling and truly showing his wife he is willing to make changes, he has chosen to air his dirty laundry through interviews and such. She should send him packing and tell him to not let the door hit his butt on the way out!!

Geitner admited to felony tax evasion I know a lawyer in St Joseph Mo who spent THREE years in the facility at Springfield for the exact same offense. Obama gave him a pass and made him Secretary of the Trasury...which is head of the IRS. Is that outrageous.
Jefferson was raided by the FBI who found $90,000 cold cash...in marked bills...FOUR YEARS AGO. Why isn't he in jail.

At least he wasn't doing it on taxpayer time, in an office or back hallway in the White House. Another marked difference....when he was asked about it...he admitted what he did. He didn't lie...and he didn't perjure himself under oath. Should he have left his post and not said anything? Nope...can't defend him on that one. Should he leave the country and be with someone he cared deeply about? That, my friend, is NOYB...or mine. If he wanted to be unfaithful to his wife, and spend time with an Argentine girlfriend, it's HIS BUSINESS. However, I think it would have been only right to have left SOMEONE with an idea of his whereabouts.
Does ANY of this rate high enough for him to be removed, or to demand his resignation? Nope...not even close. If you could stand behind President Clinton, and his illegal, shameful, dishonest behavior, to keep him in office, you have ABSOLUTELY NO RIGHT to call for the resignation of Gov. Sanford.
Apple, your double standards astound me.

Pops is right
Apple is wrong
In the meantime Obama continues to say "tighten out belt" and continues to squander millions. and, he shows no sign of letting up.
And, this morning Joe Biden admited the administrations economic projections were in error. So why should we continue to spend billions whoops....trillions, based on their facts, figures & judgment. Lets take baby steps...and not bet the farm on folks who can't get it right.

The biggest difference between Sanford and Clinton is Sanford based his campaign and public image on family values...conservative morals...
Gov Sanford didn't admit it until he got CAUGHT! He had carried on with his mistress for a long time secretly. I seriously doubt that he had any intentions of coming public with it UNTIL he got caught!
What good "family man" whose whole public image is based on family values and morals would choose to spend Father's Day with his mistress instead of his children? That alone speaks volumes of his true family values!
The reason that Sanford should resign is a trust issue. Can the residents of SC ever fully trust him to lead their state again? He was elected on his supposed values and morals, yet they were thrown out the window the minute he climbed in bed with someone who wasn't his wife!
What Clinton did was wrong but he never claimed to be a saint... heck, rumors of his affairs were well known before he was elected. It wasn't new news that he was a womanizer. Was there anyone who was truly surprised when news of Clinton having an affair surfaced?
lbc- so you are making the observation that pops is right and apple is wrong based on what???? Your personal knowledge and expertise? We all know that your word is just that... your word and nothing more. It is rarely correct and usually based on something that you have dreamt up, instead of actual facts!

apple..."how can you be wrong"....your only wrong when you touch the keyboard.
There are perhaps 15 or 20 politicians on the radar screen at the moment who have done something wrong...Sanford is one of those. His errors (documented) are moral judgments. Most of the other bad politicians are either proven guilty or being investigated for felony charges. So, I could care less whether he resigns....I suppose he should be responsive to folks that elected him, not the media.
In the meantime, perhaps 80% of the others are Democrats. Most of those , led by Timmy, should answer to the law. Personally I am more concerned that the law is being circumvented and ignored than I am the others who "merely" violated a moral value.
Timmy didn't admit he cheated until he got caught so what is new. Do you trust him to be head of the IRS. I don't.
JLS........my statement that "POPS" was right was based on my opinion (which is pretty dependable). Thanks for suggesting I had some personal knowledge of the situation to rely on, or better yet...."expertise". I'm going to have to show more respect for your judgment when you come up with conclusions like that.

I didn't say, apple, that I was defending Gov. Sanford. I am MERELY saying....AGAIN....that what he did was NOT illegal. What he did was immoral, and perhaps unethical, but illegal? Nope....
However, the last time I checked, perjury is still a crime. So are the things many of the other politicians, from both sides of the political aisle, have done. Why is it that it seems you're willing to turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to those from the party you seem to be affiliated with, while screaming for the resignation of this one politician? What I've attempted to do is get you to see your double standard....and your hypocrisy. Either disavow those in the Democratic party who have DEFINITELY broken the law, or be less caustic toward someone who hasn't, but is guilty only of poor judgement and making bad choices.

Apple....you are obsessed........taking a day off, especially over the weekend is no big deal.
Obama took an evening....we paid for a private jet & a huge cargo plane to carry armoured SUVs...another plane for secret service and he had a night on the town. It was a "secret"....until someone found him.
Why don't you get exercised over this....I am about the several hundred thousand bucks we (taxpayers) put up.
Obama is certainly no joke but he is surely a seriouis threat to our pocket book.
By the way, a couple weeks later he dropped a million or so for his wife's "Fish & Chips". I'm even more exercised.
Get with the program. We have a budget to worry about.

JLS says...
What Gov Sanford did WAS ILLEGAL by South Carolina code of law---
South Carolina Code of Laws:
SECTION 16-15-60. Adultery or fornication.
Any man or woman who shall be guilty of the crime of adultery or fornication shall be liable to indictment and, on conviction, shall be severally punished by a fine of not less than one hundred dollars nor more than five hundred dollars or imprisonment for not less than six months nor more than one year or by both fine and imprisonment, at the discretion of the court.
SECTION 16-15-70. "Adultery" defined.
"Adultery" is the living together and carnal intercourse with each other or habitual carnal intercourse with each other without living together of a man and woman when either is lawfully married to some other person.
http://www.scstatehouse.gov/CODE/t16c...
So, obviously, what he did WAS ILLEGAL, IMMORAL, and perhaps UNETHICAL.

It would be nice if you would actually base your posts on facts, instead of your opinion or your 'expertise'...

Apple/JLS.........I didn't comment based on anything other than the PHOTOS....I saw. Some kind souls took pictures of Obama....took photos of his supermobile with the secret service SUVs in front and back. I recognized the street...it was in NY. So, after examining the photos, I concluded it was relilable information. And, you say my opinion is wrong. get a life.
(Are you two really suggesting that all the news outlets....CNN...MSNBC...FOX...were all wrong in reporting this entire matter and showing the same photos...)
And, I'll bet you a nickle that in depth research would find the taxpayers money was indeed spent in big doses.
By the way, JLS/APPLE....I have to thank you. You two have been calling me everything in the book....all related to stupid........so it got me thinking....If I'm half that stupid, how in the world could I have such a good life.
I have the greatest family anyone could hope for, I have lots of nice property to enjoy, I have all the toys I care to have and solid security even with the threats of Obama, so the only possible conclusion I could reach is that if I'm even half as stupid as you two seem to think, that means I'm the luckiest guy in the world and everyone knows luck is always better than almost anything else. "WOW"..."GEE"
Thanks guys....I don't have a thing to worry about. I'll never screw anything up....I'm too lucky.

Obama took a Gulfstream G500 to NYC. This one is owned by the Air Force, but is basically the same plane flown as a private plane (with modifications of course).

apple , I missed your point...do you mean that wasn't Obama riding along in his Supermobile or he didn't have dinner in NY, or what did I miss.
It has to do with JLS's comment that my opinion was "wrong".
I saw the photo....my opinion was that it was Obama. Where did I miss it.
In the meantime my "life story" as you call it merely suggests that if I'm even half as stupid as you keep calling me, I must be lucky. What a deal

Yeh....I saw that space shuttle I think. But that's not really relative to pictures that CNN....FOX....ABC....others show as "news" at 6:00 O'Clock.
I know I'm stupid (as you and Apple continually repeat) but somewhere along the line I figured out the difference between opinions and facts. I believe it was about 50 years ago.
In the meantime there is no question that Obama took that trip, hauled the cars and secret service folks and flew himself in a Govt Gulfstream. the rest of the world is reasonably tuned in to that trip, and acknowledges it.
If you don't, perhaps you have some homework to do.
You could check Obama's most recent schedule...it was about a couple weeks ago. He dumped another couple hundred thousand bucks of taxpayer money to have dinner in NY with his wife. A night out on the town as they called it. In case you hadn't noticed his constant spending on personal "stuff" is getting under my (stupid) skin.
Just so you know, I'm only stupid....not brain dead.
But remember, I'm lucky

lbc- WHAT IN THE HECK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? I haven't the foggiest idea what you are referring to... Which is just about par for you and your comments.
I know nothing of the photos to which you refer. I cannot find anything in your earlier posts on this page about photos. You don't even make sense in your posts.
I haven't made a comment about Obama and his trips one way or another so you obviously don't know what my feelings are, yet you choose to comment like I have said I approve of them... there you go-- once again, making up things as you go along.
I have never once called you "stupid". Is this another one of the things that you just dreamt up and post so it must be fact?
You stated that pops was right and apple was wrong when it came to Gov. Sanford but now you are bringing all sorts of other things up that no one has even made comments (except you) about.
I watch lots of news too. I also read many articles in different news outlets daily. With some of your comments, I seriously doubt you have a well-rounded view of the news. Sometimes I think your tv must be stuck on Fox News and you consider it the gospel. I do watch Fox News but I realize that they may not be very unbiased or even accurate in their reporting. I am still shaking my head in disbelief and amazement that they had a reporter from the NATIONAL ENQUIRER as a commentator on Michael Jackson's death. We all know how accurate the news is in the NE!
You are so 'obsessed' with trying to prove your opinion has validity that you end up making the majority of us just shake our head in disbelief. I am glad you feel you are a lucky guy... there are lots of lucky people in the world. I don't think anyone would ever think that just because a person is lucky, he must be intelligent though. One definitely is not contingent upon the other. Reading your last few posts proves that quite completely!
Until this post, my posts on this page were most generally based on Gov Sanford and his lovely state, South Carolina and the turmoil it is in over his affair. Just about every post you make, you choose to bring other issues up incessantly. If someone makes a comment, you immediately have to infuse what you think is Obama's wastefulness, or Democrats who are law breakers, or the sorry state of our union. For as lucky of a guy that you claim or think you are, you must have a very unhappy life if this is all you can focus on continually.
