Larry Flinchpaugh will have another showing next week of “This Is Our Town,” a 1950s film about St. Joseph that he found at a garage sale and had restored.

Designed to illustrate the assets of the community, the film includes Downtown St. Joseph street scenes and documents thriving businesses of the era, such as Seitz Foods, Noma Lights and the Robidoux Hotel.

The Downtown Library and the Joyce Raye Patterson Senior Citzens Center will host this event at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the senior center’s multipurpose room. Support is underwritten by the St. Joseph Public Library Foundation.

The partnership allows the free program to be open to all ages. Refreshments will be served. Contact Debbie Gentry at 236-2107 or Ann Salanky at 271-4666 for more information.

I would really like to have a copy of this film on DVD, to see again the St. Joe streets I remember from childhood.

I'd even pay for a copy! Any plans to sell them?

i am in town for a week and will be happy to see the old street scenes and how is was in the 50,s.i used to ride the street car trollies to school, and had to transfer in the downtown section to go back to the northend. i will never forget a person in katz,z drugstore. she felt sorry for me when it was extremly cold and i didnt have a coat worthy of the weather and was from a poor family. she gave me a new one. it still bring,s tears to my eye,s remembering her kindness.it is gesters from complete strangers and the kindness they have shown that has made me the man i am today.INTEGRITY.PASSION OF LIFE and and the compasion to help others. today i can afford to do for others.
