Pay up
I’m calling regarding the people who are pushing for the school tax levy. Perhaps they should be sent a bill for the last election, where the levy failed. The school tax was the only issue on the ballot, and it failed. Perhaps they should pay a bill to the county for holding the election.
A quitter?
Here is an opinion on Sarah Palin. Winners never quit and quitters never win. She turned her back on her responsibilities as governor, she turned her back on the people of Alaska. Is that really the kind of person that people want in Washington, D.C.? I don’t think so.
Now guess
What is with this obstacle course they call Downtown? Every time you turn around, there’s another street torn up. Where’s the announcement that they are going to tear up the street? I mean, do you have to guess those things?
Keep it clean
To the city of St. Joseph and the people who keep the streets clean: St. Joseph is a windy city. And whenever the wind blows, any dirt that’s in the street will blow right along with it. Now, in the Downtown area, we have a lot of construction, and there’s a lot of debris where they’re working. St. Joseph, you need to get your machines and go clean the streets. It’s going to damage the cars.
Why vote?
Doesn’t the school district get it? We went to the polls a few months ago and voted no on the levy. No means no. Why do they want to put this issue before us again? Why do we even vote in the first place?
Too much
Why does everyone think they need to be tipped? You go to restaurants, or you order pizza, and they come to the door and they stand there and hand you the pizza. I spend enough money on food. I don’t mind tipping a waitress, but tip a pizza driver or tip a hairstylist? They’re making enough money the way it is.
Bugged
Everybody is making a big deal about the sludge in Cameron. I remember growing up in the late 1960s and early ’70s, and would play out in the streets. The mosquito trucks would come by and spray chemicals in the neighborhoods to try to get rid of all the mosquitoes. I’d like to know what kinds of chemicals they were spraying on us kids back then. Should we worry about brain tumors or cancer? I’ve already had cancer once.
Dear to much,
You are kidding for real right?? Everyone knows the waitress
makes her living off of tips, try supporting your family on what they make an hour, am sure it's not even minimum wage.
Next we tip the pizza guy because just like the waitress they bring you the food you ordered the only difference is they served you at home instead of at the resturant.
We all know the prices of food are high, but you are paying for the service you get having your food served to you either in a resturant or at home.
If you don't want to tip them, then stay home and cook your own meals and look on the brightside the money you save by not tipping, you will be able to buy a nice set of clippers to give yourself a haircut with and then you won't have to tip your hair dresser either, however if you mess your hair up don't go to your hairdresser and expect them to work miracles and do it for free.
I remember those mosquito trucks.Looked like the whole neighborhood was in a heavy fog after they went by. my parents usually made us go inside if we were lucky and fast enough to see them coming our way.I have no doubt those sprays didn't do us any good at all when we were caught outside.
i always tip the pizza guy cause i know when my nephew was a driver he didnt make that much ethier. they have to use thier own cars and buy the gas and insurance themselves at the place he worked for. do u know how much gas they use doing deliveries??? also delivering pizzas is a dangerous job anymore. did u read about the guy that got robbed just a day or two ago by 4 men? those guys dont know what they are driving into and to begrudge them a few bucks that may help pay their cell phone bill so they can call for help or keep gas in thier car so they can work well.....anyway i tip them when i have the money to place an order.
don't wanna live off of tips, then get a real job, or go to college to get a real job. tips=temporary money. here's a tip i frequently leave, "don't eat the yellow snow."
and what is a tip? a tip is an excuse someone can use against a consumer to guilt them into paying more than a service is worth.
JAFO, and to whoever made the original call. If you don't want to tip, don't use those folk's services. It's terrifically rude and very arrogant to not tip someone who is providing a service to you. I'd challenge you to attempt living on their pay. How narrow-minded and calloused you are.....
To the great JAFO if those people get what you call" real jobs" then who will bring us our food. A college educated silver spoon as yourself? that will surley be more expensive to the consumer than leaving a small gratuity. What a foolish maroon you are.
Here's a tip - a college education does not guarantee a good job or a nice set of silver flatware - get over it! Remember, even silver spoons need polishing which is work. Of course, sometimes people born with silver spoons in their mouths hire someone else to polish the spoons and those folks generally expect to be tipped if they do a good job.
On behalf of all the Moms who give birth to children with silver spoons in their mouths, all I can say is - OUCH!
It has always been accepted that you leave tips when a personal service is given, it's just being polite.
JAFO:
GET A JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The next time you use bug spray, read how it kills bugs. It attacks their respiratory system so they suffocate.
Some sprays can affect people and animals too if they breathe it in.
school board will keep on bring it back until it passes no just meant no at that time. vote yes and you cannot bring it back to vote on it again. that is why i like the sunset clause
OK pay up, I'll keep paying taxes so we can have elections, Now if someone would only say we ought to make the school operating budget last forever we could end the money wasted on recuring ballots. ;-)
JAFO you make me sad to call myself an American and a St Joe resident.
