The Economic Development Council of Clinton County will hold "Summer Blowout 2009" Aug. 14 and 15 at Perkins Park in Plattsburg.
A battle of the bands is set for Aug. 14. Gates open at 4 p.m. and the battle begins at 5 p.m., with 12 bands each performing one song in the opening round. Judges will choose six bands to play an additional song. The judges will then choose three finalists to perform a third time and a winner will be selected and announced.
All bands are encouraged to sign up for one of the 12 slots by calling (816) 539-3722. All genres are welcome.
Gates will again open at 4 p.m. Aug. 15. The battle of the bands winner will perform on stage from 5 to 6 p.m. The country band Ricochet will perform for about two hours, starting at 7 p.m.
Vendors will be displayed at the park from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 15. All-day passes for children's games from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. can be obtained for $5
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the gate. Tickets are available at the council office, located on the lower level of the Clinton County Courthouse, 207 N. Main St., Plattsburg. Tickets are also available through radio station 106.5 FM The Wolf.

Kindermusik dates set
New Kindermusik dates have been added to the schedule of the Walters Wellness Center at Highland Community College in Highland, Kan.
Kindermusik classes give parents and children the opportunity to interact and meet other families during a unique musical experience. Class activities vary, but include experimenting with musical instruments and dancing. Each class is composed of five hourlong sessions.
New sessions are set to begin from 5 to 6 p.m. Aug. 6 (newborn to 18 months) and Aug. 13 (19 months to 4 years old). Tuition is $15, which includes a book and compact disc.
