Busy week planned for road crews

Weather permitting, the Missouri Department of Transportation will work with construction companies and maintenance employees this week on a number of roads in Northwest Missouri.

ST. JOSEPH — Highway maintenance crews continue repairing pavement in the eastbound lanes of U.S. Highway 36 between 22nd Street and Interstate 29. Also, maintenance crews will be making bridge repairs today in the southbound passing lane on Interstate 229, one mile south of the Interstate 29 interchange.

SAVANNAH — Highway maintenance crews will start patching Missouri Route C between Savannah and Rosendale today. The work is expected to take two weeks to complete.

COSBY — The Missouri Route W bridge over Long Branch Creek near Cosby and Avenue City is scheduled to close for a bridge deck replacement project today. The bridge will remain closed to all traffic for six to eight weeks.

LATHROP — Highway maintenance crews will begin a chip seal operation on Missouri Highway 33 in Clinton County. Work will begin at the junction of Highway 33 and Missouri Highway 116 in Lathrop and continue south to the Clay County line in Holt, Mo. With good weather, all work should be completed in four days.

ALBANY — Highway maintenance crews will begin a three-day project today, sealing U.S. Business Highway 136 in Albany.

NEW HAMPTON — A month-long resurfacing project on U.S. Highway 136 begins today. The contract includes resurfacing approximately 10 miles on Highway 136 from the Gentry County line east of Albany, Mo., near New Hampton to the U.S. Highway 69 and Missouri Highway 13 intersection in Bethany, Mo. Planners anticipated completion before the July 4 holiday.

BLYTHEDALE — Missouri Route T will close today two miles south of Blythedale for a culvert replacement. The road will be closed between Missouri Route N and Missouri Route DD in Harrison County from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

RULO, Neb. — Work is scheduled to continue this week on the Missouri River Bridge located on U.S. Highway 159. The bridge will close at 6 a.m. Tuesday until 6 p.m. June 3.

ST. JOSEPH — The Missouri Route CC bridge over Bee Creek will close to traffic today. The road will be closed to all traffic for six to eight weeks for bridge deck replacement projects over Missouri Route CC at Bee Creek, Missouri Route O over Interstate 29, and the north U.S. Highway 169 Interstate 29 overpass.

they need to be paying attention to the access ramps. aside from some asphalt "blow-ups" 36 is in decent shape. that west bound exit ramp at 28th street is rougher than the proverbial cob, and has been for at least the last 5 years, with little or no intervention. why can't they fix that?
