TARKIO, Mo. — A proposal to transform the unused Tarkio College campus into a continuing care center for senior citizens will be discussed at 6:30 p.m. June 19 at the Tarkio Community Building, 403 S. Third St.

A former Tarkio College graduate with experience in the senior care industry has developed a plan to remodel the campus into a multiservice center for Tarkio-area senior citizens.

Supporters said that estimates indicate such a project could provide services to more than 100 people, create as many as 70 permanent new jobs and boost the local economy by $3 million annually.

Two senior executives of a Pennsylvania health care consulting company — who will be attending the college’s weekend alumni reunion — will make a presentation on the project.

The community is invited to attend the meeting. Call Linda Brunk Smith at (816) 333-4560 for more information.
